Hey man. Totally understand how it seems like the last thing I said to her in person felt like a dramatic teen movie. It’s all true though. The night I rushed home after Vidcon and then the last time I spoke with her in person were on two different days. Swoop’s vid had to condense that part of the interview. Playlist happened next when I received the texts from Steve and Nikki. As far as the timeline goes: Vidcon night with the empty house smelling like cigarettes and alcohol happened. Tensions were high after that. Then, Playlist happened where the texts were revealed. I went home and confronted her knowing she had been lying to so many people. We had a few days of conversations that didn’t go very well. Then, she made the decision about divorcing me and how quickly the papers would be filed… and how she was making her video soon. I asked for a few days to get all of my stuff together after she told me she made the decision to divorce me. The day she left the house to give me that time is when I turned and said that to her before she left. It was the final time I ever saw her in person. The text came a couple of months later after she threatened me with lawyers. That was my final communication with her ever. Both stories are true, regardless of how cringey or dramatic they sound. Just thought I’d give more context, bud. Also, your rendition of my old song was hauntingly beautiful yet funny at the same time.

Look, as someone who dissociates a ton from being emotionally abuse, Josh vlogging constantly makes complete sense to me. It puts a buffer between you and reality when you can’t cope. And then you add to that the fact that Colleen had to be nice to him when he was on camera and he could avoid abuse by vlogging. I totally see how constant vlogging easily becomes a comfort and coping mechanism.

Josh not telling Colleen he was on his way & walking in on her in the act would've definitely been an epic TV show sort of moment, but this is real life, and it makes far more sense that he felt (unjustifiably) guilty about potentially tricking her and came clean about coming home at the last minute. i feel i would've done the same thing in his shoes. it speaks to his moral character - despite everything she did to him and lied to him about, he still couldn't bring himself to lie to her.

I had a family member who knew his wife was cheating and just couldn't bring himself to catch her in the act because she'd gaslight him about the situation and catching her would make it REAL. It wasn't until someone else caught her and brought it to him did he accept what was happening. As much as I personally think Josh was foolish to tell her... I know that it's completely plausible that someone would feel so much unwarranted guilt for just finding the truth out in a "underhanded" way.

Kinda feel like when he drove home from vidcon and was trying to catch them and then ended up telling on himself, i think he chickened out. I mean that in the most respectful way possible. I think he knew exactly what he was going to find and he probably had building anxiety the closer he got, the worse the anxiety got. I have to give my experience about the “rough housing.” My ex in high school was the same way- she’d be very physical with me in a “playful” kind of way but took it way too far. She’d be “playfully angry” at me for making a joke or doing something and she’d punch me or grab my neck/arm and squeeze it to the point where I’d be holding back tears cuz it hurt but I didn’t think she was doing it on purpose so I’d laugh it off and act like it was just in good fun. Whenever people would witness it they’d get uncomfortable, and I’ve had friends since we’ve broken up (she was abusive emotionally and psychologically) express that they had often worried that she was more hands on behind the scenes because of how aggressive she seemed in front of them. But that was always the extent of it- “playful” roughhousing. I never laid a hand on her like that- and with my partner now I can think of one occasion where I playfully slapped his arm and the sound made me worry so much that I’d hurt him even though he laughed and said it didn’t hurt at all but that made me realize that in order for her to hurt me in that way that she did, to the point where she knew I was holding back tears, she must’ve been taking out some level of anger on me knowing I wasn’t going to do anything about it. Even if she wasn’t fully conscious that was what was happening.

Fun fact about the eyebrows. In my public speaking class it was advised, as a way to make your audience more inclined to take interest in what you say, to use your eyebrows. What Colleen is doing can be natural, as some people are just very expressive that way, BUT it is also a skill you can learn in college and it is specifically to get people to listen to you more. Personally I do see a difference between her more "candid" vlogs and the divorce vlog. She seems to use her eyebrows a lot more in the divorce vlog.
