This vlog series has better production value than most modern documentaries, in or out of climbing. This is a gift to the world.

I like that Reel Rock can't try to construe the narrative like they did with Sharma and Adam trying to portray competition when they were infact working together. Adam and Jacob are definitely working together

Are you talking about La Dura Dura? Because they are 100% supporting and cheering on and supporting each other
@CLANK...2 жыл бұрын
Most at this level have a strong competitive mind, im sure there is friendly competition. Cool thing about climbing (and most adventure sports) is, whilst you're competing against each other, you're both competing against nature
@zacharylaschober2 жыл бұрын
Did Reel Rock try to construe a deep rivalry or competition? I mean, Sharma directly invited Adam to try the project in the film and there were frequent discussions of beta and how motivated Chris was having Adam there and how thankful Adam was. It is of interest who will send first, but I think the film portrayed them as friendly and cooperative but the upper echelon of athletes.

@zacharylaschober2 жыл бұрын
@@derekcraig3617 eh, even with the original from Reel Rock, there is a little forced melodrama but isn’t much. They are shown repeatedly working together and talking about working together and passing the legacy and motivation for one another and such. I do get the point, especially compared to la dura complete the announcer and side interviews attempt to build some competition, but that is more didn’t add anything relevant than constructing a false narrative.

You and Magnus are radically changing my life... In so many ways... It's like you teach me everything i haven't been teached by my genitors. Watched Magnus for a week, went to a wall for the first time friday evening. Bought a little pair of climbing shoes. I'm 1m83, 95 kg. Always been to heavy. I've swimmer shoulders, i know i can develop force, but not to lift myself yet... When i see you guy flying away like it was nothing, I'm stunt... Sur I'm almost 40 and nearer from the end than the beginning of life... But I can reach much progress until then. When i hear the support and the way people talk to each other, very directly, correcting each other, giving tricks and such, gives me hope about the "positive" competition spirit (opposed to the competition to death that I consider like a major factor of everything that is wrong on the planet)... So yeah, be careful, thank you for so much beauty, you guys are so crazy inspiring.

For a top level athlete like you I imagine not getting sick is a top priority. Would be interested to know what can't of measures you take to stay healthy. I have noticed that since I started working from home due to Covid I got sick way way less. No more catching a cold in the winter and only catching the flue 1 time in 3 years, while in the past I tended to get sick multiple times a year.
@caimanaraujo4792 жыл бұрын
I started getting sick more because staying inside with a family means keeping their virus closer to you and closed inside 4 walls and a roof, while outside you don't expose yourself to nearly as much viruses, as the environment is spacious and the air flows. Before covid I got colds once every 3 years or so, during covid it was twice a year (but I'm also taking into account as colds all the sickness the crazy weather in Curitiba cause us tho, so it was a bit less than that) Idk why I started talking lol, bye
@beric0bartman2 жыл бұрын
I mean obviously staying inside 24/7 will mean you get infected less with flu or covid. But this is not a very sustainable or sociable way of living, neither will it have a great impact on your immume systems, meaning that WHEN you DO catch a cold it is probably going to be worse.
@TheValinov2 жыл бұрын
trust me, you will get sick again and even sicker because your immun system needs that one flu a year... for me it was different this year.

Love it. But consider the impact showing Adam belaying with a GRIGRI has. Lots of beginners (at least in the gym I work as instructor) take that as literal example and don't use proper belaying technique with a GRIGRI. They tell me "Adam Ondra does it like this!". The recommended and more safe way to belay with a GRIGRI is to use the break hand at all times. For paying out slack you hook your index finger under the metal edge on the right side of the device and push down the gray cam with your thumb - still having your hand around the break rope. To let go of your hands you can simply tie an overhand knot in the break rope so any slippage is limited. Sometimes people tell me "but I'm short roping my climber!" as an excuse to not use proper belaying technique. If you move towards the wall while paying out slack it works much smoother.

To tvoje lidi obdivují, to moje pak z velké většiny dělají. Určitě, uznávám ty, kdo posouvají hranice a rekordy, ale ke štěstí stačí pár pěkných chytů na slunku, kamarád, lano... úplně stejně jako ty překonávané extrémy.
