Maybe i'm not the prime target for those kinds of holds but, if you're gonna make a wooden hold, why would you add resin on it ? For me the point of wooden holds is that you can train a lot on it and basically not lose any skin.

@ejl7411 ай бұрын
Don’t add the texture. Wood holds are special because they do not have aggressive texture. What’s the point of using wood if your going to get your skin wrecked?
@thomasbrandtkjaer481311 ай бұрын
When applying friction to a structure (normally wood or fiberglass), manufactures usually spray 2K thermoset polyester plastic on the desired surface, and then drizzle quartz- or glass dust on the surface before it sets. But watch out with utmost care if you plan on proceeding with your project and plan on handeling thermosets on spray, since they contain isocyanates and other evil substances that are extremely harmful for your body and the environment. :)

As far as I know most volumes are made of wood, and often have pretty decent texture (sand?) whilst allowing to stand on. Would it not be possible to then make the „woode blades“ using only wood and adding texture (and maybe color) where the resin is now? After all wooden volumes as encountered in gyms keep their texture for a while as well. Plus even if they lose it retexturing could be feasible

I love making wooden holds. But what I don’t understand is why make wooden holds and then add sandpaper texture to it. Just make plastic holds of your going to do that. The whole point of wood is that the wood texture makes you try harder. Just my two cents.
