Been following your project since 2019 and it's great. I'm also trying to make a RPI handheld, but based on a GBA shell I modelled in 3d (with 4 action buttons and shoulder buttons). Wish I could reach you for some tips, you made a lot of interesting features in this V6, specially with the power and charging circuit

You should add 2 tactiles switches in the back of the console that act as L2 and R2, imagine a Pi5 CM that can play PlayStation 2 games

Be aware that BTT CB1 does not support even the DSI. Allwinner H616 does not have that interface. But HDMI and SPI screens are supported.

Yes, but the aftermarket shells are not great quality. You'll also need a few more things than just the shell.

Only the CM4 and Zero fit into the case. The Pi5 is faster and will probably be electrically compatible, but won't fit into the case. Maybe a CM5 will be made at some point.@@Youngei402tw

It's only using the WiFi antenna from the PSP, not the electronics. The Pi has built-in WiFi, and it connects to modern WiFi just fine.

are you going to be selling kits with the screen etc? sorry if this is covered in the video im still skipping around it. unimaginably excited for this thing - after doing my research i'm probably gonna end up waiting for the full release rather than order my own (my soldering is poor) and getting a single box with all the parts i need would be sweet. also, while obviously this isnt something anybody like... knows, at this point, what do you figure the odds are that an eventual cm5 would work with the cm4 carrier thing? is that even how compute modules work i dont know

The emmc versions of the CM4 don't work with SD cards. Only the Lite versions do. There is an SD slot on my CM4 Carrier so you can use an SD on the CM4 Lite.

How good does the pricing come out with having them solder the components for you? I've been thinking of having some boards done via them since some parts are BGA and I also don't want to minimize the soldering I have to do. I'm especially curious about their bulk purchases because I'd like to sell the boards at some point as well.

Its pretty cheap as long as the component count isn't crazy. My board is about $100/each to get made in small batches because of the setup fee for like 50 different components, but simpler or higher quantity boards are really cheap.

Pi Zero, Zero W, Zero W2, and CM4 will work with it and fit into the case. The Pi 3 and Pi 4 will work with it, but don't fit into the case. The Pi 5 may be compatible (will test one soon), but won't fit into the case.

I wanted this upgrade for my PSP, but sadly mine is a 3000 series slim. Even if i bought an aftermarket fat shell, prob nothing from a slim would fit. And before any trolls pop up... No, i don't want to overpay for someone's broken trash off ebay.

Just forget about the clones. Effort better spent on fixing any issues on the board with the pi. It's not like Sony is still producing PSP's so your effort while commendable has a limited lifetime anyway

I'd say to pick a favorite one and try to support it, such as aiming for the most processing power in the form factor or the best battery life, or some other feature the CM4 can't provide.
