I bought my son a new syx moto 50cc bike a few weeks ago. It has this red safety kill switch but when we pull the red top off, it don't shut off at all. We been pulling the plug wire to kill it everytime. He barely wants to ride anymore cause of this. Any ideas why it won't kill it when we remove it?

I have a raptor 700r if I add this kill switch and I’m out riding and someone tries to take my quad by pushing me off and I pull the lanyard kill switch would they be able to re start the quad if I still have the kill switch ?

If you have the kill switch cap and lanyard , they won't be able to start the quad . That's another nice plus about having a lanyard type kill switch.

Hi. It's sounds like your old switch was closing the switch in order for it to start. The new one sounds like it opens the switch to start. Which is how the one works in the video. The best way to tell is to take the new switch out of the equation, just take the 2 wires and twist them together and see if it starts. My guess is it will start. Then undo the 2 wires and try and start it. Then it probably won't start. Let me know what that does, if that's what happens then that has to be wired differently from your original. Like you said it's the opposite.

Today I removed the plug swith and the rest I removed the welding and welded my old switch that is exactly the sane on the plug part there was no button on the old one, if i press the switch I xan herd the click sound from the starter relay and i can start the bike but if I remove the buton/plug it stops there is no power so I try and connect the spring button onto the old switch and it doesn't work? I mYbe have a power cable and the switch is for a hearth or something I'm realy confuze on whats going on the old switch is fine but the new one doesn't have it in any way, swaped the cables, swaped the plug switch etc nothing makes it work with the press button now...

The new switch unfortunately sounds like the contacts are open when the cap is on and closes when the cap is pulled off, what that does in the video is it shorts to ground and shuts the Atv down. Sounds like your old switch is closing the set of wires in order for it to start. Your old switch was just making and breaking power so you could start it. I'm assuming yours is electric start. The only way to get the new one to work as a kill switch would be to find a wiring diagram and find a way to short the spark to ground.

old video i know, but anyone watching this, dont ever ever ever use scotch locks (the connectors he uses) they are nothing but a problem waiting to happen, anytime i work on anything at the shop and it has those connectors i cut them out and rewire them.

It's hard to say. But more than likely it would work. The most important thing is to make sure it's wired in the right place. It helps to have a wiring schematic for the particular quad. If your replacing a bad kill switch, make sure you order the right kind of switch. They come normally open or normally closed. Hope that makes sense.

There usually called T-taps depending on the manufacturer.
