I’m swapping my 4l60e to a built 4l80e on my F body firebird trans am. What driveshaft should i use? since the 80e is longer then the 60e

Do you know what the transmission came out of so we can identify the yoke? I have an 01 extended cam 2wd and looking to get the 80. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated.

Got a "700R4" driveshaft from a 90' c1500 trying to put a 4l80e yoke on it. would this part fit? or how do i go about finding the right U-Joint for my application
@josevenegas23193 жыл бұрын
Ok, I got the part number for the u joint (thanks)... but can u give the whole layout as far as all upgrades and changes to run a 4l80e behind a 5.3 engine? I got a 2002 Silverado single cab shortbed. I have the 4l80 already but haven't installed it, I bought a stock used driveshaft as well but don't know what yoke to get, my original driveshaft,yoke broke off along with all the back end of my old 4l60 tranny I had in it... so I went ahead and bought a used stock 4l80 and a drive shaft...BUT.... I now realize I need a different flex wheel, fluid lines change, wiring harness changes, yoke changes, .... I'm guessing crossmember too... sooo, I need all specs and part #s if u can, total life saver! And need some reassurance that I CAN use the stock length driveshaft I already bought... help please
@JMSAUTO3 жыл бұрын
I have a circle d direct bolt converter with stock 5.3 flex plate. Stock 4l80e yoke adapted with above ujoint. I cut the stock cross member, moved center section back to 4l80e mounting stud and welded it up. Only thing else required is a a 4l60/65e to 4l80e adapter harness from pcm of nc. My truck is an extended cab with 2 piece driveshaft and carrier bearing. I think speed engineering makes and swap crossmember if you don’t want to mess with making one.
@josevenegas23193 жыл бұрын
@@JMSAUTO what about the fluid lines? Did ur old ones work by rebending them or something? Or did u have to buy new fluid lines to fit and reach?

@josevenegas23193 жыл бұрын
@@JMSAUTO thanks... I will be buying a stock 6.0 flexplate since the 4l80 has a stock torque converter... try working the lines to plug into the 4l80's inserts....I will be buying a prefabricated crossmember....that just leaves the yoke and the wiring.... I'm guessing the stock 4l80 yoke should do....? Still unsure if driveshaft will sit right.

I have a 2004 single cab, and I’m preparing to do the same swap. I have a one piece driveshaft, do you think this setup will work for me?
@JMSAUTO4 жыл бұрын
Whip_Doctor yes it should be the same. The only difference is that I have a carrier bearing on my driveshaft so it allows for a bit of play. Once you get the new ujoint and 4l80e yoke mated to your driveshaft put it in the trans and make sure it slides back out atleast .250 to .375 inch towards the rear differential.
