What you said shook me to the bone. What you said was bigger than my screenwriting choices. It was about my choices as a human being.

A friend ha recommended this film recently. Its mind blowing to me that something like this got the green light to be made especially with an A level cast. Great video essay breaking down the movie. Nicholas cage really is nuanced and this is just a show of why hes still such a great actor. Wow, just a great movie all around.

How does this one not have over 100k views!? Going to have to play it 27k times to get it to a tenth as much as it deserves to be seen. Oh, and Adaptation is one of my favorite movies.

This is exactly what I was looking for in a review considering that I just finished watching the movie for the first time and immediately came to KZbin and you did not disappoint. I love the way that you described everything and even added your own scenes of anxiety-filled spin-offs. But I subscribed whenI heard NSYNC cuz I'm also pathetic LMAO great job thanks a lot!

similar movie to this that I thoroughly enjoyed was the lady in the van. a movie adaptation of a book about a man's experience with a homeless woman who lived in his driveway for decades. I have never read the book but the movie puts the writer in conversation with himself about how he is choosing to portray the woman's story (and I should add the woman is played superbly by Maggie smith). ultimately the movie veers away from reality and into self acknowledged fiction, even going so far as to show the actual author standing alongside the actor-author in the final scene. great movie if you haven't seen it. would highly recommend.

1st of all: Mikey, you are one of my freaking heroes. This video rocks, as well every other video you put out. Fantastic. 2nd: My vote is 100% for TREE OF LIFE. Judging on the comments, I don't expect it to win, but it's my favorite film and I would LOVE to see your take.

John Wick because I'd love your insight on why such a "dumb action flick" hooked me

I love Adaptation for the same reason I love Movies With Mikey: It vibes me a glimpse into the process with which my favorite movies were made. I've gotta be a downer when it comes to the voting, though: I've only seen one of the movies in the list, and I've got to take a hard stand *against* John Wick. It's lazy and derivative compared to any of the other action titles you've talked about. However, The Internet is obsessed with this McRib of a movie, so you'll probably get a chance to change my opinion.

Interesting video. After I watched the film the first thing that came to mind was Donald telling Charlie what his new screenwriter friend said. "Everybody has their own genre that they write. Mine is thriller." Then in the third act when Charlie asks for Donald's help that is exactly what the film becomes. A thriller. Drugs, sex, murder and all. Just something that stuck with me. I also vote for John Wick since I love the feeling that there's this entire world that actually existed before we ever knew John Wick. It feels so natural.

So what is real in this movie. What is real in this movie????? Someone please help me. Who is Donald! Is he Charlie Kaufman’s other personality!? Does he have multiple personalities?

Holy jeez that choice at the end. That's not an easy decision, but I have to vote John Wick purely from hype for the Chapter 2 trailer that came out today. Tree of Life is a close second.
