As always, thank you for the content. One of the things I've just learned about the shaper,in my short time using one , is the importance of the relationship between the cutting edge of the tool and the imaginary deflection point of rotation the entire clapper box/ tool post assembly. The more forward the cutting edge is,in reference to the ram stroke of the cutting tool tends to make it dig in. The further back the cutting edge of the tool in relation to the point of rotation of the tool post clapper box will have it lift out of the cut. this type of tool holder, by mounting on the backside of the shank will help with that. Of course I would like to see you show the shaper modification or maintenance. I'm not sure how the plastic block gets bigger, but maybe it's the bore in the block getting loose around the kingpin ?

G'day Rusty. Very nice modification on the New Tool Holder, & at least you know It's square ⬛️ & where you want it, & it does a very good job at whatever angle you want. As far as the 200mm internal right angle in the shaper, wondering if an offset tool holder will work over the virticle downside section. Example the toolholder with an " L " shape tool holder on the bottom edge allowing 100% downward cutting. 😮😅 If that makes sence ? Ted

Hi Michel, not sure if quite enough of us has said yes to the shaper repair video. Just in case here's another thumbs up!! I was thinking about your original tool holder, could you have sleeved the eye and made a smaller bolt? Not that it matters it was a very enjoyable fix and the conical coolant nozzle worked really well!! Have a great weekend!!
@ThePottingShedWorkshop3 ай бұрын
Your deburring tool on sped up footage sounds like a dentist's drill😬! Of course we want to see you take your shaper apart to fix it! I can compare the insides to mine then and see if there's anything else I need to fix! Regarding which way round you put your extended toolholder, I always install mine with the body of the toolholder behind the tool. That way, the cutting forces dont try and stretch the bolt threads, but I doubt either of our shapers are powerful enough for that to make that much of a difference!

Hi Rusti. Nice job on the toolholder. I remember being told how a shaper achieves the slow forward/fast return by means of the bullwheel and slider block. I thought the people that thought of that were very clever. It will be good to see inside the machine. Do you think the nylon part is original? Nylon is not very good with oil. I wonder if the nylon part is a previous owner's repair. Keep doing what you do. It's always interesting. Mart.
