I've been weaving for over 30 years and I am in deep envy of your selvedges. Watching you sew panels together in a previous video -- I was absolutely astounded by how straight and even those panels were. I learned from one of my early weaving teachers that weavers do what works -- there is no "right" way to do something. Weavers tend to be ingenious in coming up with fixes for problems -- like you with your bent keychain ring (and even more with your adaptive warping method which is brilliant!). I once had such bad tension problems in a warp because of the differences in the yarns, that I had to individually weight a large number of the ends. I used whatever I had around to create the weights. The back of my loom looked (and sounded) like a wind chimes. Looking forward to the first warp you put on your floor loom!!

Thank you! You're the 10th person this week to go "OMG their selvedges." I'm looking forward to the first adaptive warping I do on my floor loom. I have a theory that involves knitting needles, rubber bands, and the coat rack, so we'll see how this goes!

@@HawksongWeaving Good luck! And is your name because of the Tooks in LOTR?

@@TamarLitvot Yes! When I was having gender Realizations my partner told me to give myself a name that gave me gender euphoria. So I gave myself the last name of the adventurous hobbit family!

Good job keeping your cool with this. I've forgotten things I've needed for classes and demonstrations and it's so frustrating. The scarf still looks great. BTW, I tried your towel trick with paper in between, and I think it worked well. Easier than paper to wind on straight.

I'm glad it worked well for you! And yeah, it was definitely frustrating because the demonstration took far longer than it should have otherwise. But I was able to use it as an example of invisible disabilities. My POTS and MCAS causes brain fog so if I don't have a list to follow that my previous non-brain fogged self wrote, often things get left behind.

Where can I get a warping board you have?
@HawksongWeaving4 ай бұрын
I ordered mine off of Amazon, search parameters being "pine accordion coat rack."
