Wow! I was going to attempt this myself, but after watching this video I think I’ll pass. I like my work done correctly and I don’t think I have the patience required to attempt this. Very nice work. I wish I could just send you my old boots and have you do them. 🤔

Beautiful ride. I really like that you’re showing the versatility and application of leather craft to some non-traditional examples. I can appreciate the craftsmanship of an embossed belt or saddle but…how about some modern applications, right?

Thank you for these auto upholstery tutorials. I sew seat covers but not other interior components. I will be giving my Jeep an interior makeover soon. The invisible seam for the boot closure is genius. Question: did you add 1/4” seam allowance for all seams when you did the patterning or was it only that last E-brake seam?
@SailriteWorkbench Жыл бұрын
Great question! We added a 1/4" seam allowance for all the seams. We also added a little extra seam allowance for the bottom hem with the shock cord to account for the cord thickness. If you are concerned about patterning from your old boot we would recommend making a prototype out of some scrap or other fabric to ensure that the size, when sewn all together, will work well. Hope this is helpful and good luck with your Jeep interior makeover!

How's that edge guide coming for the LSZ machines?

Glad to see I'm not the only one waiting on one for the LSZ!
@magnusatheos7301 Жыл бұрын
@@glenncox3986 Nope. Been waiting for a while, probably a year now. At one point I was told it would be available by now so I'm hopeful it will be soon. Maybe Sailrite will come on here and give an update.

Thank you for your continued interest in an edge guide foot for the LSZ machines. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure that our product meets the highest standards of functionality and quality. Unfortunately, the first prototypes we received did not meet our expectations, so we are taking the necessary steps to improve the design and ensure that we deliver a product that meets our customers' needs. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding.

And how am I supposed to know template shape that fits my car?
@SailriteWorkbench6 ай бұрын
Great question! To get the best fit we created a template using the cars OEM Shifter boot.
@mwudarczyk845 ай бұрын
I meant hand brake boot. There is no oem cover there, just plastic.

@@mwudarczyk84 When I pattern something from scratch, I usually start with a sacrificial material, like paper or cheap fabric, and gradually mark and trim it until I get the right shape. Then I transfer that shape onto my final material. In this instance, you’ll need to make a mirrored copy of that shape as well. To do this, simply flip your template (the sacrificial paper or fabric) over and cut out a second panel. That will give you the mirrored panel you need.
