THIS is gold! I used the MixingStation App for many years but never knew about this function. WOW! I'll definetly try it out next time when I'm using my mixing console. Thanks for sharing.

I had no idea that was how IDCAs worked. I exclusively use MixingStation and just keep learning more reasons to love it. Have you ever copied a vox input to 2 channels then used one for the front of house and one for mons? I have found this trick super helpful in small venues and spaces. having a separate PEQ for on stage and off stage. then making the mon sends post fader. try it!

If the band is equal to or less than 16 channels, you can use 1-16 for FOH and 17-32 for monitors. I’ve used this technique before at a casino where I worked.

Good info! However a bit extra work with the the stream. You can just give them the bus and lock the mix

Great video. Maybe slow down just a little. It was a bit hyper in places! Very interesting though. Powerful app.

Great video. Is it possible to edit the IDCA after its being made? I couldn’t find a way so far.
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
Yes you just tap on the name label and it get you into it you can ad or remove channels. But if you want to change the mix target you'll have to reassign all the channels from scratch

Daniel, I perform and mix for 3 different bands, an acoustic trio, 4 piece blues band, and 9 piece jam band. After I set up settings for each of these three bands and name the channels, etc, how di I save all that setup? Am I saving a different Scene for each band or Settings for each band?
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
Yes you save a different scene for each band

Hey Daniel, thanks so much for teaching us this. There is one very weird problem I am facing though: the IDCAs that I create are only visible on only the phone/iPad that I created them on. They are not visible on every mobile. We use a few ipads and mobiles in our church. Is there a way that IDCAs created on one device can be made visible on all? Thanks...
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
That's because the idca is not a feature on the mixer but on the app The reason you normally see the changes on all connected devices is because they are taking the information from the mixer not from another ipad or phone Just like when you customize layers, if you change the order of the channels or add or remove channels from a layer, that will not be reflected on other devices because it's not happening on the mixer itself To "solve" that you can save the settings of the app and share it with the other devices As soon as you open the app you will have a gear ⚙️ icon on the top right of the screen Click on it then you will find a folder 📂 icon on the top right of the screen Click on it On that page you can save custom settings off the app (click on the "+" icon on the top right of the screen to create a new file) then you can recall instead of doing the changes manually every time Once you save your settings you will have an option to share it Click share -> locally That will export the settings file to your device Then you can find this file and send it to the other devices On that same page you have an up&down arrows icon on the top right of the screen Click on it And that way you can import the settings file then load it If that doesn't work for any reason then you will have to manually create the idcas on every device

@@danielkharrat Thanks, that makes sense. Another thing I wanted to ask was, does an iDCA carry pan data, or is it simply a volume level thing?

@JasperLevi Жыл бұрын
@@danielkharrat Thanks. Does that mean that if I have an iDCA sending to a linked L/R bus, the signal will be converted to mono?
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
@Jasper Levi no, the idca is simply a remote controller No processing happens on it There's nothing going into it or out of it Just think of it as your friend pushing the faders for you
@eclectic311510 күн бұрын
Hey there, any idea why I have spill through main LR when faders are off?
@danielkharrat10 күн бұрын
You might have a prefader bus that is accidentally assigned to the main LR
@curciopaul Жыл бұрын
Daniel, what is the difference between FX Send1 and FX1?
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
The send is the bus that you are sending the channels to. It's like any other bus. Then the sound of that bus goes into the effect unit and out of the effect unit into the effect return channels which are called FX1 L FX1 R. this is where the sound of the effect is. It's not on the sends bus, it's on the returns channels
@curciopaul Жыл бұрын
@@danielkharrat I see. So why Is there a volume slider on the FX send?
@danielkharrat Жыл бұрын
@curciopaul it's for the bus, the signal that is going into the effect. How hard do you want to hit the effect on the way in? Reverb for example behaves differently based on the level of the signal coming in
@curciopaul Жыл бұрын
@@danielkharrat Thank you. I would describe that as how "wet" the signal is. Or how saturated the effect is. Would you agree?
