This video is a follow on from my previous video where I created a crushed glass and resin mirror. For this project I wanted to incorporate mirrors again, however, I wanted to include more colour in the resin.
Adding mirrors to your resin design can create a dramatic effect, as it bounces light around the room and depending on the time of day, you get different moods happening. I love using mirrors, as it can turn an ordinary resin artwork into something special.
For this project I used the following items:
• 60cm MDF Cradle Board
• 600mls of Resin from U Resin
• Different size mirrors (amzn.to/2D3dV2w)*
• Diamond Gems/Confetti (amzn.to/2Y7pVJi)*
• Artisue Pigment - Black
• Artisue Pigment - Lime
• Artisue Pigment - Emerald
• Le Rez Paste - Angel White
• Le Rez Paste - Molten Gold

It's a tough call whether I like this one better or the other one with mirrors - they are both very effective and simply stunning. Your talent oozes through the screen, and you make everything look so easy. I know I will have resin all over my mirrors and they will slide all over when I give this a go, but the pull is too strong to try this technique, so I'm going to go for it. Thank you for including the links in your description - YOU'RE THE BEST! ❤

Sue, when you get the resin on the mirror, how do you clean off the resin drips and when? Do you wait for the drips to dry or do you wipe off right away? Also, how do you finish off the back, just resin painted on? Do you have a link you can share where you are finishing off the back and adding the hardware for hanging. I never remember to do that before creating, mostly because I am never sure how it will end up and the position it may look best hanging. Thank you... As always, you are amazing!
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 4 жыл бұрын
I wait for the resin to cure before using a sharp blade to remove the excess resin. I am pretty sure I show that in the video. The back has two coats of sealer and I use D-Rings and Hanging Cord for hanging. I always add this afterwards, that way, I too can decide which way up it needs to go. 💕

Sue - HOW did you do this. I have tried this before (several times) and I always end up with resin on the mirrors. Do you cover with a clear tack film on the mirrors and then peel it off when you are done? Please share. Sorry, I almost forgot to say this is a BEAUTIFUL piece!
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
The mirrors are just thick enough to place on the curing resin without the resin running on to the face. If you are using thin mirrors, leave the resin to cure for about an hour, before placing on the resin. The resin should have cured enough to not run on to the face. I don’t cover the mirrors. Any resin that does accidentally end up on the face is removed with a sharp blade, when it has cured.
