Finding the right time to move resin
I was challenged to create a red piece; red is not a colour I usually use, and I decided to take up the challenge. After playing with different colour combinations, I went with red, gold and black, and as usual, I added gems for texture and depth. This artwork has been created on a 1-metre diameter cradleboard and used 1.6 litres of resin.
For this piece, I delayed moving the resin for 1 hour after pouring, the reason being, I wanted an as little movement as possible between colours, leaving the vibrancy of the colours to show up.
Materials used:
Round Cradle Board - 1-metre​ diameter
Resin - I use U Resin Standard UV
Colour Obsession Pigments - Gold
Colour Obsession Paste - Fire Engine Red
Colour Obsession Paste - Black Truffle
Decoration Fillers (or any other stones you have to hand)
Heat Gun or Blow Torch
D-Rings and Wire for hanging

Thank you, the simple approach is a great way to get into resin. You have to learn when to stop, which is not easy when you first get into resin. It is too easy to keep tweaking it until you have gone too far. I still do it now 😂

Beautiful as always Sue. I am always inspired by your creations and you give me ideas for my own work. Where do you get the large circular boards from? I tend to use Loxley canvas but can only get up to 50cm. The larger the better for me.
