Damn, easiest string to replace on a crossbow ever! And it does take broadheads, good to know. Very important, if someone was not allowed to own firearms and considered a tactical crossbow, it needs to shoot broadheads. You won't have to keep it cocked for fast deployment like a regular crossbow, you just need to keep the magazine loaded, and with followup shots if needed. If someone can't own firearms this would be a fine home defense weapon I think. For the "zombie invasion", of course.

Well what can I say, I was hoping that my Adder would be with me for Christmas. And what a Christmas present it would have been. The website did say delivery in December after all. Anyway, Christmas came and went, and now it's just a couple of days till 2020. And I really don't know when I will get my Adder that I paid for at the end of August. If there is a problem, I would want to know, I am very understanding, but it's been quite a while now. I have a string wax holder inside the front grip. I took the large plastic pin out of the front grip and cut it down by the length of a Lip sil type string wax holder. Then the wax holder goes into the front grip and the pin screws in after. It's quite useful as I offer forget to bring it. Great stuff Jeorg.

I'll buy one in a heartbeat if they're sold in the USA. At 130 lb draw and able to fire broadheads, it's legal for deer hunting where I live. Even through I'd probably use it mostly for target shooting and survival if needed. Keeping my fingers crossed that Cold Steel will sell it under their Cheap Shot brand. :-)

I honestly don't think it would get the job done yea it might have a 130# draw but it has an extremely short power stroke I don't think it'll shoot much more than 100 feet per second and idk if ud be able to put a 7/8" wide (minimum) 100 grain broad heads on the bolts which is the lightest legal broad head and the bolts (arrows) must be at least 14" long at least in my state of Alabama I'm not sure about ur state but be sure to check ur state regulations imma about to check mine now lol as u know hunting/fishing regulations change from year to year Edit: I stand corrected they say it shoots 270 fps but that seems off to me because the power stroke is only 7.5" and the bolts are only 7.5" long which could be a problem depending on individual state regulations

@@dangerousdylan6262 So Cold Steel has a stack of videos of them killing big game pigs, deer, etc with it. The thing you have to understand about ballistics gel is that it's more for firearms than stabby type weapons bows/knives/etc. You will get far more penetration in a living target than you will on ballistics gel with a bow. The reason for this is ballistic gelatin is very sticky and it tends to grabs the projectile/blade whatever. Ballistics gel is really used wrong by most people. It's designed to be used in conjunction with a slow motion camera to show temporary wound cavity. That was its original intent when the FBI commissioned it back when temporary wound channels were considered "everything". A better test would be to grease the arrow or something. At any rate Cold Steel's real world test shows plenty of pass through ability. They even had one that glanced off and went the entire length of a deer. In through the chest and out through the leg. They have plenty of power. They take bigger arrows too, you'd just have to take off the repeating mechanism.

Because I've looked up the specs on this crossbow and it says it shoots 270 FPS and I've shot ballistic targets thicker than this one from 3 times as far away or more with a barrnett recruit recurve crossbow which has a draw weight of 150# 12" power stroke and 245 fps with clean pass throughs and this crossbow is supposed to shoot 270 fps with only 130# draw weight and only a 7.5" power stroke? That just doesn't and up how does a weaker crossbow with a shorter power stroke shoot faster with no pass through although I guess the bolts probably are lighter being as they're only 7.5" so it must be the kinetic energy being as the barrnett recruit recurve crossbow uses 20" inch bolt if I remember correctly I'll look into it

I am sort of a "prepper", but in EU, so no guns. Also, i don't really prepare for the Apocalypse, just for more plausible (and survivable) scenarios, like a natural disaster, longer term power failure, anything that disrupts the day to day life, when you cannot rely on others for the normal stuff. I always felt i need some sort of ranged weapon, but not really a gun. Until now, i used a bow. I think this crossbow will be the next level for me. A suggestion to any who purchase this: remove the red dot sight, get a small pistol laser sight with contact switch, and put it on that top rail. Reason: it will be accurate to further distances with the laser. A laser mounted to the side of the barrel only intersects the flight path of the bolt once. Same with one mounted under the barrel. But a laser mounted directly atop the barrel intersects the flight path twice, at different distances.... and throughout much of the rest of the flight, is within an inch or so of the flight path (which is “close enough for rock & roll). With a small low-power crossbow like this, I would zero the laser at 7 meters or thereabouts. As the bolt rises into the laser line, its trajectory starts to fall. So it starts flight three inches below the laser line. It intersects 7 meters out. Then for another few meters of flight it is about an inch above the laser line, then intersects again perhaps 11 meters out. And then is still within two inches of the laser line out to almost 15 meters. That makes it functionally accurate for all of that flight! Which let’s face it is about the limit of its effective range; beyond that, its velocity is dropping and therefore its penetrating power is also diminishing.

Sorry to reply to a year old comment..! But this an interesting suggestion & I'll try it out as I picked up one of these today & have a laser sight on the way. Really pleased with the crossbow, its a lot of fun. Accurate too: I'm very tight at 20 yds, every time a chest sized target at 30 yds, but losing too much height by 35 for comfort. Its a light crossbow obviously but the power holds up better over range than you might think! At a range of 10 foot with the proprietary bolt its roughly 24 ft - lbs energy & 0.2 foot/sec momentum, but at the 30 foot max range (for me) its only down to 22 ft - lbs & 0.19 foot/sec momentum.

Joerg, you should put some left handed twists in that string so the string sits about 1/8" (3mm) behind the rubber stoppers. This can be beneficial for the limb and prolong the life of the rubber stoppers as well. You may also gain more speed because the limb a stressed a bit more. Great video as usual!

Just got it, but the laser and light were out of stock. Oh well, I have to wait anyway. So excited! I've never seen a bow like this before, it's just so freaking cool. German design.. so deadly.
