I was so hype to play this map, hear this theme, and unlock Gilius. Golden Axe is a heavily underrated Sega classic. Now if we could get some Altered Beast and Kid Chameleon love, too. :)

I don't know if I'd call it underrated. They shoehorn it into every 'Classics' title and Genesis/Mega Drive compilation list ever where it's kinda overshadowed by Streets of Rage and other better games of the genre. It was a success because it was one of the best early arcade ports on the Master System which is where it got its notoriety. But very soon after Sega themselves released some far better beat em' ups and the standard was set much higher than it was when Golden Axe was released. It was... okay. Definitely good for its time as an arcade game. But that's about it. What I will say is that it does feel like a really good candidate for a modern remake. Golden Axe was just okay back in the 90s, but they can remake the game with new tech and ideas and make it re-earn its fame. I would definitely buy that.

Come to beat em ups, it is Battletoads (despite having like two levels of beat em up gameplay), Streets of Rage and sometimes Final Fight that are mentioned more often. And of course, Turtles in Time, because it is just that good.

Honestly the best song done in Sonic T4ransformed. It's just the original but BIGGER AND BETTER with modern engines. It's exactly how it should be, and it's a perfect version of the full song save for the opening to remind you it's a racing game. It even has a great way to get to the transition in the song too.

The turning is fucked, on tracks like Curien Mansion when you go up the stairs at the beginning how in fuck's name do you not smash into the wall at the first corner? You're going too fucking fast and the shit ass turning makes you go splat. The game is shit, especially for a SEGA game. They need to be held to the highest point, it was a 3/10 game. If you have Sonic with the speed mod your speed is the highest it can be (all levels plus the extra ring) stat wise. How does Ulala STILL overtake you? As far as I know the ai doesn't use mods and if they did Ulala's top speed is 3 levels so she shouldn't be faster. The ai SMOKES the FUCK out of you and the only way you can stay infront is if you constantly spam weapons and have the ability to not crash into every wall. The water controls are fucked, specifically the turning. On the dream stage (NiGHTS' and Reala's home track) the second ramp at the water part flings you into the air and even out of the map because the top isn't solid. I constantly crash into the wall that makes a fork in the water part and once I had a lead of like 15 seconds with Joe and his console mod. Fucking lost it instantly, quit and changed to Knuckles with standard and won first attempt. The whole game is fucked, I don't know how people manage to turn with characters that don't have good turning stats. Even on Adder's Lair (which is my favorite) when you go into the lair and hit the fork you go into snake heads. If you go too fast you will crash into an invisible wall and lose ALL your speed. On Joe's level (another favorite) after the water part you go up some stairs, on the last set you regularly lost your bonuses from doing tricks like you crashed for no reason. I mean you'll be in the air doing trivks and your exhaust will pop like you failed a boost start taking away all your boist and slowing you down. Apparently BD Joe js glitched with his hitbox but I don't play as him because he's slow from personal experience. WHY WAS ULALA AND PUDDING IN THE GAME!? I HATE THOSE TWO WITH A PASSION!

@@bortverde SEGA really tried to copy Mario Kart with the first all stars and failed. Mario Kart Wii roasts every Sonic racing game for days. I mean red things that follow the opponent infront, green things that you use to ricochet off walls to hopefully land a hit on an opponent, a star that gives you magic powers... hmmm Then transformed made it unique and fucked up. They added complete jobbers, haven't even heard of half of the games the cast was from before playing like Space Channel 5 and Skies Of Arcadia and Jet Set Radio. For the game focusing on the all star move it fucked up. The all stars are the same 3 things: Projectiles like Sonic, Amy and Danica Speed like Knuckles, NiGHTS and Reala Side hitters like Ralph, Vyse and Alex Kidd All the all stars should've been unique, not the same 3 formulas.

I've been removing dust off some of my old games, i came accross this gem i never gave a fair chance. After loading it up i continued the tour mode and started a challenge on this map. This music made me realize.. This game was the smash brothers of racing games. So much care in the visuals, in the audio... this music is orgasmic. You have to start drifting early and hold it until you get a lv3 boost. It's a lot of fun when you can chain that boost into the ramp after the starting line. The flying section right after the start also allows for a ton of risk boosts.

that finish line turn is easy. i actually have more trouble with the cave portion since i'm terrible with air drifting

Try making that turn on DS when you're R button is broken so you can't drift lol. I managed to do so with Beat because i managed to stunt and turn a certain way while coming off the ramp towards the end and landed nearly in the perfect position to complete the boost challenge on hard. Aside from that, I always play this level with Gilius. It's only fitting that he be the one to race as on that track lol.
