Many fans thought Eggman is weak but he actually has some strengh in him (Not to mention that he can run just as fast as Sonic.). It's just that he's aware that Sonic can easily beat him in hand-in-hand combat, which is why he prefers to use robots, and giant mechs, to fight & defeat Sonic. Honestly, Eggman was the only person who kept me interested in Lost World. Everyone else was either out-of character or just straight up uninteresting. Oh, we absolutely can. I've never heard anyone mention what Eggman says just after that in the background while Sonic and Tails are talking over him, before Sonic knocks the conch out of his hand. If you listen closely, you hear something along the lines of: "I'm a compassionate man. -Or else I would've tossed you all into a bottomless pit by now! Obviously, I was [the rest is unintelligible to me]" So Eggman is practically saying that the D6 should be grateful that he abused and enslaved them and that they have to endure the punishment of the painful conch because hey, AT LEAST he's sparing their lives! Bringing that up along with how he doesn't care about how painful the conch's effects were to the D6, only about how rare the conch was, how the smug bastard visibly enjoyed inflicting that pain upon them the two times we saw him use the conch, and how he doesn't care about the damage done to the world as long as there's enough for him to conquer, they're all more examples of him being truly self centered and having no concern for others. Ah yes, a very 'compassionate' man indeed! :D Very messed up of him to say that enslaving and punishing them instead of killing them is showing compassion. I love him 💜💕
