I do wildlife photography, and I love it! One of my views, is that wildlife is not to be feared, but respected, and the Adder is no exception to that!

@@luckytri9716 I don't think the tags are designed to stay on for long and these critters mate as soon as they wake so I doubt that's an issue either.

Compromises their movement too. I saw another video on an English common where the women demonstrated against nuclear power back in the day & the trackers they put on them was miniscule compared to these!

The word viper through its Old French root vipere displaced the older English word nadder, which is the root of the word adder and came from the Old English word naeddre. Can you believe that?
@dunebasher19714 жыл бұрын
Yes, I can believe that. "A nadder" became "an adder".

The common adder is the only venomous snake native to Great Britain. Snakes are notably absent from Ireland (both the Republic and the North). Like most vipers, adders give birth to live young, rather than laying eggs.
@petercdowney4 жыл бұрын
Adders are very timid and tend to avoid humans. They only bite if cornered or picked up.

How deadly is adder venom? Does it kill humans?
@mikesaunders47754 жыл бұрын
Potentially yes, but they are not in the same league as Cobras, Mambas,or tropical vipers. They are shy and retiring,and will generally disappear the moment a human presence is detected. Most bites come when people pick them up in the mistaken belief that their bite is no worse than a wasp sting.Most healthy people survive bites,but they are extremely painful and require immediate treatment.
@TheModernMusicsucks3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the bite, and perhaps the person. Adders have to be reasonable, as they don't have a huge supply. They have a unique venom, which has enabled them to survive within the Arctic circle, where no other venomous Snakes can be found as far as I know.
@drewking2503 жыл бұрын
Not really deadly. Yes it will hurt a lot, and can cause complications requiring a hospital visit but no-one has died in around 40 years or so in the UK from an adder bite.
