What a lovely spot by the creek and little waterfall. Snakes are a part of the ecosystem and if they are 'Gartner Snakes' then no real issue. It was only a small natural area as the rest of your property was well kept. If the neighbours are uncomfortable with that then perhaps they are living in the wrong environment. The city may suit them better!

I would never EVER tell my neighbor what to keep his property looking like. As far as I'm concerned, my neighbor could keep 57 junk vehicles on his property - could care less. But I do believe in taking care of my place. You're talking to a guy who spent $6 K to cut down trees that could have fallen in a storm and knocked out power to his neighbors. I couldn't live like that. My advice, take care of your place, get off of the couch and work.

I'm with you, Eric, get rid of the rocks. Make it easier on yourself. Years ago I decided if plants in my yard can't survive the weather we have in summer and winter then I don't want them. I'm to old to fertilize, water, cover in the cold. You get the idea. I'm a much happier gardener 😁. I have mostly raised beds and told the man that mows if it's inside the flowerbed then don't bother it. If it's outside the flowerbed then cut it down. Happy, happy, happy. I also have my share of snakes. As long as they're not poisonous I don't bother them and they don't bother me. Happy Gardening Jacksonville, Florida

You chopped down a beautiful hosta plant with flowers on it, thats not a weed, a plant you buy at a greenhouse. It could be a nice rock garden, it's a really pretty are and colorful flowers would look good in there. Put a bird bath in there with Shepard hooks for bird feeders. You could put a butterfly bush in there to attract butterfly. The plants in there could attract different birds.

Just need to figure out who
@bethdumont90203 жыл бұрын
@@OutdoorswithErik because this constitutes harassment legally maybe law enforcement can subpoena the email provider to get a proper name. This stuff was sent by email so you do have a from email address as a starting point. Find a lawyer who specialises in property disputes and get some advice. Then go with them to the police. Bite back. But do it legally. Remain polite & follow the rules, don't you go breaking any laws. But make your stand. If your immediate neighbours aren't aware of any HOA, there probably isn't one. That means the authority is your local council and when compared to other overgrown lawns I've seen, I don't think your's would constitute a violation notice being posted. But verify that with the council. I feel for you. I had such a neighbour. He was someone who moved into the house next door to his nieces MIL (he didn't get on with the nieces hubby) - & yes - he knew she lived there. He moved into a dead end court that contained 2 families with young children - mine was 1 of the 2. He made my husband cut down a perfectly healthy tree because of it's proximity (like 1 metre) to the boundary fence. When that tree grew back again, he threw weedkiller from his balcony over the fence, killing the tree. Because he owned (as opposed to rented), there wasn't much we could do. Eventually he moved out, thankfully. Our land was a smaller plot than yours is, so our houses were closer together. Entitled people like this need reminding that the world doesn't revolve around them, that - whether they like it or not - they are part of a closed ecosystem that they need to play a part in nourishing. I for one hope this person reads my comments, or someone that knows them does, and has serious words with them about their attitude.

I would remove the stones and that broken retaining wall. Also, I would widen that creek about 2 feet and soften the banks. Your property; generally your problem usually. Long grass can be a problem here in Aus as during fire season it only takes a little spark for a dry grass fire to spread too quickly, so property owners can receive notices to clear it. Grass in video does not look yellow or dry though, but if it tends to best get it cut. (I was getting worried you may slice a snake!) Does grass cuttings in the creek cause a problem for fish etc? Long grass is not usually an issue with small residential homes but it can depend on your councils.
@maxmaximus66713 жыл бұрын
@Michael Scofield unless you're a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, putting anything in a mailbox can get you into some legal action. Because it is against federal law to put anything in a mailbox, " on which no postage has been paid," and if caught doing so a person could be fined up to $5,000 and an organization $10,000. Called the Mailbox Restriction Law.

First person to question about the letter is Jessica. 🤔 I think she wanted you to clean up that spot so she could use the swing. That rockery is beautiful don’t tear it down! You could always dig up the area with the kabota and then Lay down landscaper cloth or paper (whatever you call it in your neck of the woods) And then lay down Astro- turf. The grass will alway be cut, green and no problem. Then dig up the garden and plant stuff for the family, maybe Grapes. You can even use the landscapers paper around the plants and not have to worry about the weeds there either. If you want, build up the rockery by shorting it. It does look like it is there to create a path to the creek though.

And every time I went by their house I would throw a rock in their yard and complain about it. It sounds like something that your kids would do to you because they didn't get to go on your week being gone. You know that it takes a lot for the county to complain. Where the city is not applying it takes a lot for people to complain about other people's property. Especially if they burn brush trash. Because most of them people burn it in their front yard. Or they bring over their friends and have a big bonfire at the end of the year.

Neighbor has a problem. Snakes need a place to live, too. Especially harmless ones like garter snakes. Hosta is a beautiful landscape plant by itself.

Sorry Erik, that was more than 1 weeks growth. More like 2 months not being mowed. To bad you took out those pretty hostas while on your mowing spree. Great old barn, so obviously those rocks were some ones garden from years past.

That's a lot of hard work. May the snakes rest in peace R.I.P. Yov've done a really nice job after all that moewing and cutting down trees and grass. Very interesting and fun watching you do that.
