Addeybb has won 12 of his 22 races and his Australian Gr1 record is 3 wins and a 2nd beaten 1 length by a race fit Verry Elleegant when needing the run and only tiring in the last 50 yards or so, when having not run for 5 months, whereas Verry Elleegant had run 3 times since Addeybb's last run, including when winning a month before beating Addeybb and in a head to head between the two it is 3-1 to Addeybb. Addeybb has also been beaten at Listed level here in the UK when 3rd of 9 and Gr2 level when 4th of 6 and 2nd of 6 and from his 9 UK wins, 1 was his Maiden and 3 were handicaps and we don't have Group level handicaps in the UK and he has also been beaten in a handicap here too. He requires soft to heavy ground back in UK to be a serious contender in a genuine G1 race - that is why Champions Day at Ascot in October (when you invariable get those conditions) is one of the few 10F races in the UK that he is targeted at from the start of the season. If we get a wet summer over here then races like Prince of Wales, Eclipse and Juddmonte would likely be on his agenda but on proper good or quicker ground he will find a few too good for him - I think that was one of the reason they went to Australia in the first place because they felt he had more chance of winning a G1 over there.

Addeybb is purely and simply a wet tracker. He is not hopeless on good or dead ground but he’s only decent on good and dead. He’s a little bit better on soft and 5 lengths better on heavy. The fact that he could beat Australia’s best horses on good/dead ground just shows how bad they are. The mare is good and she’s also better on soft or heavy ground. Good/dead ground doesn’t suit either and they are pretty evenly matched on that surface but he improves 5-6 lengths on heavy and she improves 2-3 lengths on heavy. On good or dead not much between them. On soft or heavy he’s clearly superior. Neither of them are anywhere near the best of Europe on good or dead ground.

Take nothing away from the winner. He extracted revenge for his defeat in the Ranvet, but Verry Elleegant was desperately unlucky and probably should have won the race. They ran this on a Good 4, more than a second slower than the Ranvet on a Soft 7. This is what the Stewards reported: "Verry Elleegant - Began awkwardly and shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarter by Addeybb which shifted out. K McEvoy rider of Dalasan pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 1600m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Verry Elleegant which resulted in Verry Elleegant losing its running and having to be steadied. K McEvoy's licence to ride in races was suspended ... After being crossed by Dalasan Verry Elleegant continued to over race badly and refused to settle and making the first turn after being crossed by Mo'Unga shifted out resulting in Verry Elleegant and Addeybb making contact for a number of strides near the 1500m..."

Your report doesn’t surprise me as Addeybb is far better as everybody knows on soft. Regardless of her bad luck in running, he’s done well to hold off the rest of the field on that going. Good ride from Tom, he was brave enough to make a mid race move in a group one. Good to see a jockey make a decision if he doesn’t like his position or the pace in the race.

@@svendbosanvovski4241 I’ve read comments criticising the level of form, and laughing about the fact that Addeybb can win down there. Well, take a look at Addeybb’s win in The Champion Stakes here, he beat a multiple group one winner in Magical who herself took down Ghaiyyath in the Irish Champion when he was officially the highest rated horse in the world, behind her was Serpentine, our Derby winner. Further back was Mishriff, (we all know what he’s been doing), and behind him was Japan and Lord North. Basically, Addeybb is Top class on soft ground and high class on good ground. It’s silly to criticise other jurisdictions just because of national pride.
@svendbosanvovski42413 жыл бұрын
@@alexmansfield8676 Absolutely agree. Addeybb is the IFHR's highest rated thoroughbred still in training, and that has been acknowledged here by our racing media. He is the only Champion Stakes winner ever to compete here, and when you look at its honour roll you can only marvel at the sheer quality. VE competing so well against such a highly rated horse as Addeybb, even in defeat, can only elevate her standing. Tommy is a crowd favourite here. Last year they were referring to him as Aussie Tom. The last time that happened was the appellation Aussie Joe Bugner, when the great boxer made his home here.
