Jordan, good looking chowdah. Here's a tip for adding flower: set a screen strainer into the surface of your chowder about half way in. Put the flower into the strainer and whisk in the broth inside the strainer. No clumps or dumplings form. Try it next time.

Actually fun fact bay leaves don't have any flavor
@AddictedFishing3 жыл бұрын
@@Muscle_Moose When the herb is infused into water, broth, or another cooking liquid, an almost minty flavor (somewhere between spearmint and menthol) develops, with subtle hints of black pepper and Christmas tree pine. ... While the flavor of things like chiles, dried spices, and browned meat shout, the flavor of the bay leaf whispers.

This is the second time I have made the soup with your recipe - still amazing. I had trouble with the corn startch last time. So this time I drained off some fluid, put it in my VitaMix blender with the corn startch and made it super smoth then poured it back it. Was super easy and not 1 lump. Thanks again for sharing

Hey Jordan, cooking tip 101: if you sauté the flour with your bacon and corn you'll make a paste, and then you just add it to your broth and it will simmer and thicken your broth. No need to worry about dumplings

you guys are fishermen...and as much as I love your interest in the cuisine aspect...DO NOT THROW RAW STARCH INTO THE BOIL!...whisk in a separate bowl with warm water until the contents are completely married into a mixture...slowly add to the SIMMERING pot and stir in. Reduce further and the incorporated mixture will thicken it very nicely without the chunks. BEST OF LUCK...One of the best fishing channels on youtube so far! I should give you one of my recipes for smoked coho!

Next time do a cold water/corn starch slurry for your thickener. About 2 shots of water to 2-3 tablespoons of cornstarch. Mix it up well before you add. Will take away that clumpy(dumpling) effect and make for a clean creamy texture. Killer for gravy as well! Goodjob chef knigge.
@davidfarrens35723 жыл бұрын
Key when thickening CHOWDER'S use instant potato trust me! (Just a bit) is better than starch or flower. Amy time. Also if you a hot pepper fan a hint of heat is also good. Not to much but a hint.

you can make a slurry of flour/corn starch and water, that way its already diluted and wont dumplung up! Great video but next time you take a hen, show the eggs! we love egg shots!! greetings from portland oregon
@Sillyoldgoose3 жыл бұрын
You probably know this but if you put cold water about a half cup in a cup with 4 tablespoons of flour works great to thicken and you don't have to break anything up in the pot.
