I actually feel like making Bee skinny was a pretty neat design choice. She indulges in everything, yet her body still remains unchanged, like a void that never stops eating. When you think about it, that's really what gluttony is. Consuming and consuming, indulging and indulging, and never being truly satisfied, like how Bee looks actually more skinny than a lot of other demons.

I mean, Bee isn't surrounding herself in high society. You wouldn't see someone like Stolas in one of her parties, and the party is filled with Imps and hellhounds. I get the feeling that high society doesn't actually like her but she doesn't give a sh*t. It's soooo refreshing that Bee turned out to be a decent enough person and not complete spoilty.

Yeah, my theory is that, when she is among Hell's other elites, she's treated as a "model minority" among them (save for maybe Satan, though we may need to wait to see how Hell's hierarchy affects him). She's high enough on the totem pole to be considered a princess of Hell, but not high enough status to the other princes and princesses. That, and she may not care about status anyways. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

While the other rulers have to maintain appearances Bee being the personification of gluttony does whatever she wants whenever she wants regardless what anyone has to say about it. If she wants to steal drugs from another ruler she does it if she wants to date a Hellhound she does it because who's gonna stop her.

This is very true. I just don't understand why people cant look at it as something original, standing apart from things we've seen before. I loved the design for Bee I thought it was very creative and massive props to the animators on that episode. That animation just literally POPS in ur face when u see Bee without the silhouette. It works well with the story they're telling and mashes in my opinion perfectly with the other characters, it's not a character you'll just forget at first glance.

I like the idea that the true purpose of the hell hound parties is really just so Queen Bee can make Beelzejuice, bassically using her own species as a way so she can profit, A symbiotic relationship. Though thats not to say that I think Queen Bee is completely evil, no. But it would add more complexity and depth into Beelzebub, which I think would be good for a deadly sin.

I get people are expecting Bee to have an ulterior motive, kinda? Not really as the party is also what makes Buzzlejuice which is more known business move in Hell. Other than that and the implied practice of a Hellhound Pound, there's nothing 'evil' about Bee which is likely intentional. We might not see Bee anytime soon so her playing the role to help Loona's character to develop is a good move rather than be a one off villain.

I view it more as Mutualism than Symbiosis. If she stops throwing the parties she won't have Beezlejuice. It she stops throwing the parties The Hellhounds will probably create their own parties as they don't actually need her for that. She does and gets Beezlejuice and they have a good time which is a mutual benefit, not a symbiotic relationship.

I honestly don't know why people were complaining about her design. She still has enough bee like elements that you get she's insect themed without having to be a literal bee. Also she’s the embodiment of over indulgence and this episode clearly shows that. A glutton doesn’t necessarily mean you eat a lot of food.

Viv also mentioned that her stomach is a lava lamp so she burns everything she consumes meaning she never gets full or gets the full effects of what she takes both drug and alcohol wise. Nothing sits in her system long enough for her to be full. I never thought too much about the design of Bee because I have a fast metabolism as well and I eat alot. I didn't think their would be backlash over this design.

I like to stick to the idea that Bee could have very easily beat Blitz at the drinking competition, you can see her expression as Blitz is drinking the Beelzejuice that she immediately understands he's in a bad place, she doesn't even bother trying to finish off the Beelzejuice, even the look she gives Vortex as he is carried away and later even mentions that he "isn't giving an okay vibe". The way she looks at him more so conveys the idea that she knows something is up and he's not in a good state, not that he's a better drinker or in an even shittier state than Bee is (which makes no sense since she's very clearly thriving off the party atmosphere)

Bee is so chill, like I understand how Loona is interpreting what she's saying as sarcastic when its really not- Loona just has too many walls, and the fact she's with Tex probably doesn't help. But Bee is genuinely a breath of fresh air, not only is her design just AMAZING and so cool and creative, her personality is great, charming and genuinely concerned about other's wellbeing in a deeper way than just keeping her party alive.

I think there's a simpler explanation about Bee's ability to sense the vibe of her guests. Its one of her bug traits. Insects, bees included, rely heavily on smell and touch each other using their antennae to communicate. Bee talking about 'tasting' Blitzo's flavor and having this empathy shows that Vivziepop did some homework on insect behavior.

Being voiced by Nicki Minaj meant that Sugilite from Steven Universe only appeared in one episode with a speaking role, and that was a fully funded cable show. This indie youtube series got Ke$ha which is so impressive but I do hope she can appear again. If not maybe the VA who performed the song can act as Bee's speaking voice if necessary.

Truly excellent video! A perfect explanation of Beelze and how the character relates to the greater thematically concepts of addiction and gluttony. As much as I love Beelzebub and would enjoy attending one of her parties, there is just enough doubt in my mind to make me uneasy. I am very convinced that she is feeding off people in a demonic way, or harboring some other darker motive. However I honestly never suspected that Beelzebub herself harbors some deep pain and she trying to essentially drown her sorrows by partying. But now that I think about it, that aligns really well with something a KZbin comment pointed out. Which that Beelze is essentially a black hole that devours everything in sight. That is why she is still thin, she is like a ravenous void that can never be full. A true expression of gluttony. So I wonder if that constant gnawing hunger is the pain she experiences. Imagine never being able to be full, or satisfied. So Beelze is doing everything in her power to quench her hunger, but she can only stave it off for brief moments. Viv even says that her lava lamp stomach is essentially a burning fire that consumes everything. This was a very informative and insightful video! I love your content and your analysis! If Bee feeds off the energy of her guests and thus wants them to be having a good time at her parties why wasn’t she more concerned about Loona who was not having a good time until Blitz showed up? Oooo what if Bee is the one who asked that hellhound to go talk to Loona? Like she clocked Loona have a crush on Vortex and so when Loona left the party unhappy she found a hound that was kind of similar and asked them to go check on Loona. Even if Loona didn’t come back into the party she still would have left with a more positive experience and thus be more likely to come to other hellhound parties.

A party host needs to be chill when it comes to guests' attitudes. She shouldn't nitpick every little problem, since a little drama happens here and there at every party. If she acted like a gatekeeping Karen who kicks out every bad egg from the party the overall vibe gets ruined by others feeling bad for those people. They will hate her as a host and avoid her parties more, meaning less workers to make honey. Blitzø's own vibe was too bitter and he harrassed the other guests at a faster rate than either Loona or the poodle who bullied her.

Personally I like the idea that she is empathic and uses the ability to boost her good times at her parties, feeling the fun, the buzz and the lust of a whole party. The main job of most people in gluttony would be bee keepers to make the honey she demands. Also I am convinced she got into that drinking game to get blitz pass out drunk to get rid of him without ruining her party, when that failed she tried fluffing his ego. when she still felt his bad vibes then she went to Loona not because of what he is actually doing anything wrong but because his bad feelings felt by her is taking her high down.

Lastly my point is that she is trying to remove them discreetly to keep the mood high. She sent Loona to blitz knowing she will either bump up his mood or get rid of him. To a degree her initial interaction with Loona could be her trying to get rid of Loona by making her uncomfortable with positive energy. That is just what I see. If you don't that is fine.

I think the line ‘I’m what you want not what you need” is pretty telling. Bee can throw crazy parties with all the things hellhounds want like junk food and booze but she can’t provide them what they need good living conditions, fair treatment, financial support. And since she’s an empath she stays as far away as she can from the worst parts of her ring’s society. Like she probably never goes to the hellhound pounds because of how awfully they’re run BUT will sign off on adoptions cuz being adopted is supposed to be a feel-good happy thing

My theory on why there isn't much mentioned on Bee's end of creating the Hellhound Adoption systems is that she may be someone that signs off on whatever is in front of her because (as a representative of the sin of Gluttony) she'd be down for whatever, without realizing the systems she has in place and is way more likely to run her Ring with parties, rather than rule it directly.

I hadn't actually thought about how Beelzebub potentially feeling bad about the way things are (and perhaps almost as bad as Blitz), thank you, it's good to have my perspective broadened with other ideas. On another note: Whenever we finally meet Belphegor, I'm rooting for her to be total nerd, or scientist, I know it sounds like she'd be a stereotype, and that it leans up against how some critics wanted Bee to turn out, but I think it'd be pretty fitting, considering some of the real world writings on Belphegor and the reveal that she has stash of drugs. Then again, she could be an overworked ball of stress from having to produce drugs and medicine to all of hell 24/7 (and likely run Hell's educational system too), and had to take sick days near weekly to cope with it a little bit.

Beelzebub being a pusher is mainly why I don’t think I’d be comfortable around her because even if she wants you to have fun, she literally had the Hellhounds coming up to her and begging Bee for more, thus addicted/dependent on her and would probably still try to get you to overindulge on something.😕 The state of the Hellhound adoption process is pretty terrible too and it wouldn’t surprise me if that comes up if we get more of Loona’s backstory.😢 I also imagine all of the Deadly Sins can sense emotions and do what they can to bring out their particular sin in the citizens.🤔 I don’t mind Beelzebub’s design though. I like it.😊❤

One of my theories about the Hellhound adoption agency is that the pups who fail to get adopted before they’re 18 most likely meet an untimely end and this is one reason we see Loona, who is on the verge of aging out, panicking while she’s in her cell. Part of this is just look at the hellhounds at Bee’s party and the other areas. We don’t see any of the uglier ones we saw at the adoption agency, in particular pugs seemed to be over-represented among the adoption agency kids, but we don’t see them anywhere else. What actually happens to Hell’s unwanted puppies? We know what happens to unwanted pets in real life. At first glance Bee is a bee, an insect that eats honey, but her name comes from the lord of the flies, an insect that eats carrion and her overall design could be that of a wasp, a predatory insect known for its love of meat and sweet things like honey. Actually looking up how to tell the difference between bees and wasps strongly suggests Bee’s design is waspish, she’s thin like a wasp instead of round like a bee, the large central structure in her party is a round ball with a honeycomb design, wasp nests tend to be roundish and hanging out on branches while bee nests tend to be more saggy baggy and are usually hidden in hollows to provide structure. Bees also tend to have more muted brownish yellow colors, while wasps are a much brighter yellow. Anyway I don’t think Bee is as nice as she seems.

I can see Tex acting as a middle point between Loona and Bee to "mend the bit of damage" from Loona not realizing that Bee was actually trying to warn her of Blitz being in a bad way; and building friendships with Bee and the other hounds Loona met at the party. While I understand it's not likely, I have a theory with her. I imagine, as a child or even a teenager, Queen Bee was a pseudo godmother to Charlie. Charlie hung around with her sweet energy and Charlie learned about how to be kind and understanding, especially to those not typically with alot of power. She learn how to settle arguments and learn to dodge while doing so. Hence her skills at avoiding sinners. She likely sees sinning as a form of drunkenness. Plus I find it hilariously ironic if Charlie hung out with all the 7 sins, but only took away to good traits that make them good rulers in their world with necessarily connected to their sin. Like Bee should learn how to compromise and empathy, Asmodeus she learn how to warm and inviting nature, and she inherited Lucifer's once naive innocent nature.

I really liked Beelzebub’s design as a hell hound based demon lord and thought it blended well with insect inclusions to the design. Also to me, it feels like the demon lords are less revered or feared than members of the ares goetia. Luna was willing to pick a fight with B even after seeing the demon form, Millie smacked fizz in front of asmodeus and sinners stay clowning on even attacking Charlie despite her being Lucifer’s daughter. Yet demons like Stolas with his mere presence incites fear and anxiety in most imps.

He he heeeeaaahhhhhh…….” Honestly bee is probably extremely stressed out trying to make sure every batch of beelze juice is perfect for everyone. She’s obsessed with praise and making sure everyone is happy. Honestly Tex seems so chill throughout the entire night I think he might have met bee at one point when she was having a panic attack probably in one of her first batches or something and Tex was like “you ok?” And she tried to hold it together but Tex was Tex and she explained how everything was going wrong and she didn’t know how to fix it and know so many people depend on her and she doesn’t know if she can make this stupid honey alone. Or something of that nature. She goes big he laughs and she seems confused because most people freak out at her episodes he calms her down and they go inside and she and him work together to make the honey. Tex doesn’t know how to fix anything that bee has done but he can help her be a better person and stand up for herself

I would be really interested in seeing if the gluttony ring and specifically Bee has a problem with parasocial relationships. I don't think its out of the realm of possibility that her partygoers develop the obsessive need to be at her parties, because she genuinely tries to take care of you. And if you were abandoned at a puppy pound you'd have insecurity issues and a higher need for validation i think.

I thought that Beelezbub was going to be a bee demon, but I love the design they went for Beelezbub; it's beautiful. I'm also not surprised about people complaining about her design and not having the proper "body" to represent the sin of gluttony. I feel they'll complain, too, if they made the character overweight and say Helluva Boss is fat-shaming or portraying fat stereotypes now 😑😑😑. I'm glad they went on a different route. One question I do have is, where is the Hellhounds adoption center? Seeing how underfunded they are, I would like to think they're in the outer parts of the Gluttony Ring to separate them from the party scene, but they could be somewhere else entirely if that's the case.

With the topic of Verosika being a recovering addict, that line where she said “…so your sister says ‘hi’…”, referring to Blitzø’s sister Barbie-Wire, I’m reminded of that one IMP from S1E8 who recognized Blitzø and got him to tag along in the party. I wonder if THAT imp went to a party with Barbie, and somewhere along the way that’s how she got hooked on Bee-lze Juice at one of Bee’s party, or at least one of Bee’s predecessor’s (since Blitzø and Barbie are in their late 30s/early 40s, compared to Loona, Tex and Bee who seem to be in their early or mid 20s). What I’m saying is, with Verosika knowing Barbie-and us seeing in one of the upcoming episodes’ promos that Barbie can disguise herself (possibly with an Asmodean Crystal), the Lust & Gluttony rings might be linked. Perhaps at some point, Barbie and Verosika both ended up in rehab from going to too many of the Gluttony ring’s parties. This is all assuming that Barbie also got hooked on something like Bee-lze Juice, or some other product unique to the Gluttony ring. I think it’s possible since Lust & Gluttony as concepts feed into each other a lot; Lust is an insatiable desire, and Gluttony is the insatiable appetite birthed from said desire. It’d also make sense for how Tex got to know Bee, and why he’s her boyfriend, but why he also works under Verosika, who as a succubus we know is more associated with the Lust ring. SarcasticChorus made a good point that with how much Bee’s parties revolve around the self-indulging aspect of Gluttony, that some denizens of hell might have a lot of flings, primarily the hell-hounds. That might be why so many-like Loona-end up in the kennels, with multiple sharing one cage…Bee & Asmodeus’ parties get people hooked on sex and drugs, and as a result the hellhounds from those one night stands end up in the system, or Imps & Succubi like Barbie or Verosika end up with addictions.

Random idea for Bee, she ends up as a contact in Luna's phone as they've become friends through Tex (I think that's his name) but Luna has to keep her friendship/acquaintanceship with Bee on the down low due to Bee's status. I'm really digging all the analysis going on over this episode. My own thought is that it's closer to actual bees, and the production of actual honey...or in Beel's case, royal jelly. If those parallels hold, I'm guessing that Bee's some sort of psychic vampire, feeding off people's energy and having learned over the millennia that a rocking party tastes best...the parties bring "pollen" [good vibes] to the "hive" [her obviously beehive-shaped party venue], where it can then be concentrated into honey, tying into her 'tasting the flavor of people's energy'. Throwing the parties gets everyone feeling great in one central location, which means lots of good vibes to harvest and maximize the ability to "keep making her that honey". But it's also, fitting for Gluttony, a cycle of excess. Overindulging on the parties creates absentee / neglectful parents, leads to hellhound pups in adoption shelters. This could even play into Bee herself as the 'caretaker' of the hellhound population, neglecting her duties because she's too busy partying. Whether she truly knows how awful the shelter environment is, or has been too hands off in delegation I can't say...but with there being a connection between her and Loona now, there's plenty of opportunities for that to be explored. I also wonder if she didn't lose the drinking contest on purpose...calling Blitz out so that he could beat her and in doing so get his ego soothed (restoring the good vibes of the party) or just plain old pass out drunk (neutralizing his ability to add bad vibes to it), and only after he goes all in does she realize her mistake...even with a sinful flourish of praise it ends up amplifying his self-destructive undercurrent rather than sidelining it, until it gets so bad he needs to leave.

Not sure if the Pilot is still considered canon, but Stolas hinted that they WANT Hell to be as populated as possible for future wars (which heaven clearly disagrees with, thus the extermination) but if it doesn't apply to native citizens, Bee would be winning if her hounds do reproduce the most. I think she's very aware of the circumstances in her ring and it helps fuel her parties as people with tragic pasts tend to be more likely to experiment with drugs and such, though I could be looking too deeply. I do think there is way more to her as a deadly sin then we see in that episode, for sure.

It makes sense sin is a resource the demons can harvest. But what I find strange is not just human sin can be harvested but demon sin as well. Coupled with the fact the only immortal demons are sinners and the Deadly Sins, what if hellborn demons are no demons at all? The more the series progresses, it appears they are more like aliens. native species of the place now known as Hell that got conquered and enslaved by Lucifer and his followers.

Temperance or strength. Sometime called discipline is the virtue that breaks gluttony or, addiction. I believe Bee might be in chronic pain, got addicted to her own parties, and doesn't have the strength to go thought withdrawal and stay off her addictions. I feel this might have been a punishment from God. Bee's in a state of gluttony herself to cope with the pain she's always in. So, she gets others addicted to her parties and honey so she can get pain relief.

Typically when it comes to sins and addiction Lust has been the sin to represent addiction. most people stereotype lust as meaning excessive sex and strong sexual desire but in reality Lust pretty much means a strong desire for something, sex is often very easily the target of lust due to human's strong instinctual drive to fulfill sexual desires but it isn't the only target, a drug addict for example can lust after their next fix, a serial killer can lust after their next kill, etc but what makes lust what it is is desire but that desire is often stronger than the satisfaction one gets from actually fulfilling that desire leaving one still desiring but never really satisfied. Gluttony on the other hand is as is often stated excessive consumption but like lust is with sex gluttony is often stereotyped with food but again like lust with sex, food isn't the only avenue for which the sin can take form. Like lust potential targets for gluttony can include sex, drugs, maybe not murder unless you want to include excessive game hunting but you get it, but it can also include less potentially destructive avenues for satisfaction like excessive music, games, and like we seen in episode 8 it can include excessive partying. To simplify Lust = You want something, you want it really bad, but you want it so much to a point where your desire is far greater than the potential satisfaction you could get by having the thing you want and that in the long term ultimately devalues the very thing that you want to a point were you don't want it cuz now it's incapable of satisfying you and you inevitably throw it away like trash and in the end you were never really satisfied with it cuz your desire was stronger than the potential satisfaction. Gluttony = you want to consume something for momentary pleasure, you do value it but that value you hold for it is just a avenue for momentary satisfaction, and when you're done you're once again ready for more.

This video about Beelzebub and to the certain extent, Angel Dust due to him being mentioned in this video, I think that Hell is both yes and no as the place of torment. And by that, it means if the Sinners are trapped within their own faults and the ways they lived, it will be both the blessing and the curse depend on certain point of view. If they have no problems with the ways they lived when they were alive and are happy to be trapped in their own faults or seeing no point in fixing them for the better, then they are living the good lives. Heck, Hell might even be considered as their second chance to enjoy their lives to the fullest. But to those who came to regrets for how they lived, what they have done or finally realized that they are at faults for all of their own problems, Hell will definitely be a place of torment because they cannot escaped their own desires, their own faults and the ways they lived no matter how hard they tried because temptation will always get the better of them. And to struggle such a fruitless venture is quite a torture. This is why many people do not belived in Charlie's cause because from a certain point of view, many people who wanted to reform for the better already have Karl Fritz's mindset. If you know about Attack on Titan, you will know what I mean. In other words, those who wished they can become better refused to become better because they believed they deserved such tortures through temptation and desires for what they done when they were alive while those who saw nothing wrong with them will continued to live like how they used to live when they were alive.

Maybe Bee is like Demon Heisenburg. I'm betting that since Beelzebub gets more energy and better tasting flavors when the hellhounds are happy and indulging in bliss, than in self destruction, its more of a façade than her actual feelings. Its possible she keeps positive vibes going so she can produce better tasting honey, which is turn is sold around the rings of hell. If she had moments of being anything other than positive, others would start being less positive and her production of purely positive bliss honey would be tainted and not sell as well. Not that its impossible for high ranking demons to be genuinely nice, but its likely not as simple as that.

If Wrath is closer to Pride than Greed, why did Millie’s family go to Loo Loo Land rather than Lu Lu World?- was what I was going to ask, before realizing that being in the Pride Ring, and exposed to all the Sinners and their stuff (rather than how the mobs seemed to have enough awareness to not attack amusement parks) might make it more dangerous and concerning for an imp, along with all the bigotry they might encounter.
