I am a listener who is a recovering alcoholic and meth addict. I am currently in school to get my certificate to be a substance abuse counselor and then ultimately a degree in social work. I love all of the esoteric and spiritual content so much but this episode really is paralleling the context of my school work. I sent this to two of my professors who I am sure will also love it. One thing that comes up in discussion amongst us in class is the potential for meth addicts self medicating undiagnosed ADHD. As a student, I was inspired by one of my professors who is an MFT. He never suffered from addiction but he did get diagnosed with ADHD well into his career at 43. I recently got tested by my own therapist at the age of 44 and have ADHD (x a million lol). I just find it so interesting, the potential correlation. Love your podcast, Andre. I have been listening since I got out of rehab in fall 2023. I have always been spiritual, even in addiction, but once I was in recovery in rehab, I began with the same prayer daily, asking to be aligned in my divine purpose, so that I may be of service to others. When I got out, I was really happy to find podcasts like yours. They have helped guide me along my path of healing, and I am excited that I truly am aligning to my divine purpose so that I may be of service to others suffering from addiction and trauma going forward.

Hi, Andre.. just a note to inform you of your incorrect presumption regarding meth addicts watching your podcast. I am experiencing both simultaneously: conscious expansion (which is most addicting of all-and I love it) as well as meth addiction. What makes it interesting for me is that as I modify habits then get drawn back in for various reasons, I’m conscious of all of it. It’s been a process of growth, and it’s all interconnected. Childhood trauma, people pleasing, narcissistic relationships and seeing that I am a victim of nothing.. so much self reflection. All I want is continued growth. So many nuances and facets.. anyway, now you know! Your podcast is my favorite❤

Stoicism has helped me a lot "The pleasure which we most rarely experience gives us greatest delight.” - Epictetus
@MikkoMurmeliАй бұрын
I've almost always been too indulgent to be a really stoic man in this sense, but, after reading Richard Rudd's main book "The Gene Keys" and checking my profile there, I found one of my key keys to be the 56th, which is much like what you say. That 56th key is "Distraction, Enrichment, Intoxication". It starts from just distracting yourself with this and that, with whatever works as a distraction. When you evolve on that keyline, you learn to take things not as distractions, but as life-enriching little experiences. In short, you learn to savor things, which is exactly what you are saying there on that Epictetus quote. Maybe I should read some of this fella's work too... thanks!

I’ve realised through listening to this woman that when my dopamine scales are even , I’m bullet proof to my thoughts , when the scales tip into pain , this chemically induces feelings of guilt and shame which I believe is universal to humans , and once the body recognises this chemistry, the thoughts are back in charge , and we all know that’s when hell begins , you can understand why reaching for the dopamine fix becomes a necessity by this stage

Our collective homeostasis is rapidly shifting as boundaries dissolve and our function can not be dependable in a future mingled with AI. Dig deeper to access creativity that AI can never produce. Thus the greater self-care and happiness can be realized as we ride on the wave of creating our new world. Some of us have already experienced this self liberation when the first PCs were given to us in the workplace along with software that did so much support function. Now we take that support for granted. The next evolutionary step is the training of AI to be our creative assistant.
Our food, our water and our air is being poisoned. What do you think that does to humans?

Doesn't personal intimacy, or the anticipation tilt the see saw and release dopamine, so that it needs to be compensated for? I'm not intate with anyone in any context, but I imagine that being intimate with someone would create a longing when apart. So, how does intimacy stave off the roller coaster?

If stress leads to cancer then what kind of stress is required to avoid cancer?
@jonh4774Ай бұрын
Long story really short- long term unresolved stress causes health issues, short term stress if done in a healthy way can be quite good for you Think like going to the gym- working out all day every day is going wear you down and eventually break you, going to the gym and going straight for a 500lbs deadlift is also going to break you, but going to the gym a few times a week pushing yourself but staying within your limits and progressing over time will build you up and make you stronger

@VisualVortexArtStudioАй бұрын
I hear you, and it’s true that life can feel so heavy at times. But sometimes, the way we think about our circumstances shapes the reality we experience. Instead of saying, ‘I don’t have the time or energy,’ try saying, ‘I am strong, and I will create the time and energy to build a new reality.’ That shift in mindset might seem small, but it can spark incredible changes. You have the power to take even the tiniest steps toward a brighter reality-it all starts with what you choose to focus on.

@@kimberlyhoppe-walker6093I'm sorry the world has made you feel like maybe reproduction is purpose. There are SO many ways to create and bring meaning and expansion of love and peace in this world. I think just the fact that you are here and asking yourself these questions is a beautiful sign you are moving into your fullest purpose. Which I believe, is to become the most authentic and mind/body/spirit/will/action aligned version of yourself you can become. Healing and releasing all the parts of you that feel otherwise or worse try to make others feel otherwise. And yet, the beauty may be in the greatest purpose of all, to come back home to our own peace and be able to live and enjoy the fruits and blessings of this mortal coil and have some adventures, sharing connection and love with others and with nature and this planet while we are here. 💖 I hope more snd more beauty and purpose is revealed within you along the way. 🙏

I had my own personal experiences with these things and then I worked in the medical field for many years on the emergency side and responded for copious amounts of calls related to those kinds of drugs. They are not a powerful tool. They are a bandaid at best…a simple form of chemical restraints on different levels. And they often have the opposite effect than what they are used for.
