And an Uncle Iroh. I staunchly advocate that we should develop a comprehensive AI modeled exclusively on Uncle Iroh, and that it should be mandatory on all mobile devices. I also think there should be the standard healthcare versions of Baymax...and an educational version with a database on "fun" and game development. Turn schools into places where all lessons are taught through games and sports, by Educational Baymax. Therapists, medical specialists and nurses, and professors and tutors would still be necessary, but the basic bulk work in those fields could be done by Baymax units. Caring, supportive, comforting, and proficient...putting the needs of students and patients first.

Saying goodbye to Baymax never gets easier. That brings tears every time. Along with Hiro realizing Tadashi lives on in his memories. And then seeing Baymax again when we thought he was gone. The movie dealt with grief really well. And that explosion was shocking in the theater. Disney did a really great job with it. I wish they'd do more animated Marvel things like this. Obscure, little known stories.

The design of Baymax draws a lot from genuine BioMed Engineers who are working on medical bots / exo-skeletons etc. Their main concern is how to design a robot with enough strength to lift a human, but is so gentile it will not injure someone incredibly frail. The solutions created were very similar to Baymax's inflatable design. The philosophy being "You can't kill someone with a pool noodle".

No...just...no. They're good movies, and I enjoy them immensely. I don't generally rewatch much...but I rewatch those...and Wall-E, pretty regularly. I also sometimes watch Moana or Encanto maybe once every other year or so. There are a few other non-Disney/non-Pixar movies I rewatch with varying degrees of frequency, but that's about it. I don't rewatch things like most people do. But they're NOT perfection, even by the loosest possible definition. They're not masterpieces, and they're not even great. They're just good. Objectively good. Unlike the entirety of Star Wars...which is mediocre for the most part. Except for the sequels which were bad...Rogue One which was good and Andor which were genuinely great...and then all the "Legends" non-canon stuff which is irredeemable fanfic trash from top to bottom, beginning to end. There are hardly any (compared to how many exist in total) books, shows, movies, or anything in that ballpark which are genuinely good. Even fewer that could be reasonably called masterpieces. There are maybe half a dozen of anything at all in all of human history that could objectively and rationally called masterpieces. Music, stories, art, anything. Michaelangelo's David is one. Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Beethoven's 5th... Honestly, no actual stories of any medium come to mind. They're all extremely deeply flawed. Some are truly great (not Shakespeare, and definitely not the fuckin Bible), but none are masterpieces.

My opinion is that the How to Train your Dragon trilogy is pretty close to perfect as well (and I know I'm not the only one who thinks that). That trilogy is my favorite of all time. But Big Hero 6 is reasonably high on my list as well. I think the main reason it isn't top for me is that the soundtrack (aside from maybe the scene with Immortals) isn't particularly memorable, which I know is a more significant factor to me than it is to most people, but I love the story.

The story behind the film is that after Disney’s acquisition of Marvel Bob Iger wants film adaptations of Marvel Comics so the director of Winnie the Pooh (2011) was looking through the Marvel database, and stumbled upon Big Hero 6 a comic he never heard of, and pitched it, and the rest is history. Thus Big Hero 6 became the first WDAS film based off a Marvel comic.
@rbrtck
@rbrtck 9 ай бұрын
That's right, and originally it was going to be a collaboration between WDAS (Disney Animation) and Marvel Studios, but after a few meetings, Marvel decided that they weren't on the same page, and told WDAS they could do whatever they wanted with this property (since Marvel weren't going to), so it really became a standard Disney animated feature (adapted from another source, like most have been).

@rbrtck
@rbrtck 9 ай бұрын
@@michaeladundon Well, it's a Disney Animation movie loosely (VERY loosely--they pretty much used just the names, seriously) based on an obscure Marvel comic. Marvel had declined to collaborate on it, so it's part of the Disney animated feature canon only, and there is no Marvel branding on it. But Stan Lee isn't limited to movies with Marvel connections anyway. For instance, he had at least two pretty hilarious cameos in DC's (Warner Brothers) _Teen Titans Go! To the Movies_ .

I need to express some appreciation for the animated series that followed this. They never tried to bring Callaghan back as a villain. HIs entire motivation was revenge for his daughter, so keeping him a bad guy wouldn't make sense. He does appear in the series, but only in his cell, and he shows genuine remorse for his actions and gratitude for Hiro saving Abigail.

To think that, if he'd controlled his rage at 25:07 and said, instead, "And for whatever it's worth, I'm honestly sorry for what happened to him - he had a mind of the first stripe and a heart to match, his loss is the world's loss." ...he could have made allies of his adversaries. As an engineer, I have to say that Disney Animation did a really good job researching what it's like. Of course, many of their artists these days are engineers themselves, so they had plenty of help in-house. It's pure, unrealistic fantasy in many respects, to be sure, but the movie covers things like how science and engineering are not just technical but creative pursuits (and we can get "writer's block" when it comes to ideas), and how in practically every case we have to do many tests, make many attempts, and fail many times until we finally do succeed (at least with Tadashi creating Baymax). It really gives people some insight into that world.

Hands down one of the best marvel movies that is forgotten about because people don't even realize it's a marvel movie. Also a great comics and they should have continued with this movie they should have definitely made a sequel instead of making so many other trash marvel movies that they have been flooding the markets with just to try to make a buck... Hence why marvel is taking a step back and truly looking at a lot of the mistakes they have been making and all the money they've been losing

My favorite ugly holiday sweater I saw at Disneyland last week was a Baymax one! It said “falalalala…!” 🤛🏻

If this is an actual Marvel movie, there is a nonzero chance that Tadashi will come back in a sequel but he's now a villain.

Addie, sweetheart, just because it's animated doesn't mean that it has to be only for children. It's just another way to tell a story

One of the rare times where the movie adaptation is better than the source material(the original Marvel comic) which was a lot darker.

Disasters and tragedies are so impeccably timed in most animated features. They don't waste any seconds of the animators' tedious work, do they? 😄

You need to react to the series that came in after this movie. It ran for 3 seasons and it is very awesome. I love your reactions. So wholesome and wonderful 🙏🏾

Though the Marvel comic book this is based on is set in the same universe as the X-Men, Avengers and Spider-Man, this version - which Disney opted to adapt as an actual "Disney" animated film instead of a Marvel movie - has very little in common with the original save for the very basics of most of the six heroes.
