I've owned three Mother-32s since the first week they were out... but I never tried this. Pretty clever! Nice work!

Thanks, Oz! Haven't tried the LFO audio yet, but I really like the tone you got from it, so now I'm gonna try it. BTW, if you haven't already tried this, the LFO will go even higher into the audio range by patching an external signal into the "LFO Rate" jack on the patch panel. I think the on-board knob gets you up to 300Hz max (or so,) but the external signal can get you up to 650Hz. Happy tweaking!

The LFO is indeed a true VCO: it goes up to audio rate, is voltage-controlled, and tracks 1v/octave. As you show, it's useful for enriching the sound by detuning it against the main VCO, creating intervals or beat frequencies. However, the pulse wave you added first is not another VCO: it's derived from the main VCO, and will always have the same pitch, just like the multiple outputs on the A110. It can add timbral variety, but not beating or intervals or FM. If you do want a third independent VCO, set the VCF into self-oscillation. Between that, the LFO and the main VCO, you can indeed get 3 VCOs, albeit with some limitations.

How do you do to set the VCF into self-oscillation?
@zacharyrohrer79767 жыл бұрын
If you crank the resonance all the way up, the filter will play a sine wave at the cutoff frequency. You can also track this to the keyboard.
@Subtlenimbus2 жыл бұрын
The LFO on the Mother 32 does not track at 1 volt per octave. It only stays in tune over a very short span of notes when used as an audio oscillator.

I do this with a Subharmonicon: send it KB and GATE and you get effectively 6 more oscillators which can all be fine tuned, or pitch quantized.

Very cool video. Would only wish for Line recording. A lot of detail gets lost like that. Especially when you do teh mixing examples i believe there is more happening than the echo of the room allows the micro to catch

Unfortunately you can't track the LFO with the pitch, on various octaves they are out of tune, you can tune the the first note but then it will be out of tune by progressing with the pitch. The same happens viceversa. So I guess you do need an external VCO one and also a type that can be fine tuned.

Probably a silly question. But when midi syncing the mother32 to the analog four..That only takes up one voice of the analog four yeah? So you still have 3 voices left on the A4.?

Great video and nice patching! Was the audio recorded with a mic in the room? For improvement, you could try mixing it with the line out and also open up the filter a bit more to get a glimpse of the higher harmonics when mixing the LFO sine with the more harmonically rich saw/pulse coming from the VCO.

I liked your video, but two bits of constructive criticisms: rack your modules, and it's pronounced "mogue," not "mooog". Moog rhymes with rogue. Cheers!
