12 minutes to essentially plug 1 usb cable into the 1 open usb slot, and then open File Explorer to find the files. yikes.... and fix that smoke alarm that's going off in the background!!

Thank you for your sharing, my problem is my cloud recognized the USB hard drive but it shown no storage space available. I went through the cloud community forum and found quite a few people encounter the same problem. I can't find any solution yet, it will be great if you can help with that.

I have 2 USB drives through a hub attached to MY "My Cloud" and all three drives show up on My desktop PC in "This PC" (My Computer) folder as a lettered drive under "Network Locations" but I can't find the 2 USB drives anywhere on my Notebook PC that is on the network. I see the My Cloud drive as drive Z but the 2 USB drives aren't showing. Oh, and on the My Cloud page on the top where the USB symbol is... It says no devices found even though hey show as storage on my desktop computer

does the copying go over the network or simply via the USB? ....also can we access the external hard drive remotely from the my cloud interface when we are outside the network

Very helpful video when I was having issue adding SSD to MyCloud, now I just use a SSD via external 2.5 case and attach to MyCloud that way. Thanks for the detail instructions.

Jesus Christ, thanks a lot for this! I was just about to throw my single-bay WD My Cloud into the corner. I even installed a desktop app from WD that - after the install - informed me that it is no longer supported by WD. So thanks a lot for this hint!!!!!

I had a WD My Cloud exactly like the one in your video that failed. I took it apart and discovered the 4TB drive was still good so I think the circuit board failed. I ordered and external enclose, installed the drive and connected it to my new WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra and it works perfectly, thanks to your video. Excellent video, Thank You, sir.

Better be darn sure your Drive & Networking devices are connected to an UPS, Uninterruptible Power Power Supply!!!....your Data is only as clean as your power going to the devices reading & writing that data!!!

Hello I used my 4tb My cloud in Germany for the first time and worked flawlesly..Then I moved to another country and plug it into my router and have the blue solid light and I still cant access the drive as it doesnt display the dashboard and it is not visible in the network..What am I supposed to do?There is 1 tb data in it which I dont want to lose..Can you please make a video for possible solutions..Thank you

It doesn't recognize exFAT drives. It does recognize NTFS drives. Im not Sure if it recognizes HFS.

The more interesting question is if you can add more than one USB drive via a an USB hub.

You can add addition USB Drives using a USB HUB. I am still using the NAS in the Video with 2 External 6TB USB Drives connected to the NAS via 4-port USB Hub

ESRepair In trying to add "MY Book" to "My Cloud" it wont act as a safe point. The My Cloud recognizes it but when clicking "safepoint" it only says "Retrieving partitions" and goes no further. Any ideas?

Perhaps your USB drive is "incorrectly" formatted!!! I know the WD MyCloud uses a Debian Linux OS based Operating System but I'm not sure which drive format will be the most optimal. I have 3 of these 3TB WD MyCloud devices and I am looking for options to expand. I had heard the 3TB versions had premature failure problems one of the factors I thought might be the vertical orientation of the HDD instead of horizontal. I believe it's best for consistent wear that the drive be oriented horizontally. I've also got a fan blowing over mine to keep them cool.

You can but you would have to buy a special NAS drive that supports RAID.

The USB port is on the My Cloud Mirror which connects to your router via ethernet. I think you are confused about what you can do here.
