I love this about old jeeps. It totally blew my mind when I realized my 1992 XJ came with everything to add a rear wiper including all the rubber tubing for the washer fluid to flow through.

Wow that's pretty cool, didn't know that was a XJ mod!

Hey Tyler, great job on this WJ and all the ones you have! I just bought a 2004 Laredo and was encouraged to do this modification as the first of many, I went to the savage yard and got a sensor and switch with auto lights, followed your instructions and voila! I got auto lights for $17 (Although I admit the hard part was running the wire from the back of the cluster to the top of the dash), but very happy with the result! Thanks again and I really appreciate your videos, I have learned a lot about WJ's by watching them!

Yes that connector is a pain to get shoved up to the front of the dash for sure! I'm glad it work for you, I just love cool things like this that are cheap and add a cool feature! Thanks for the view!

Auto headlights are fantastic, especially for tunnels.
@TylerPotter2 жыл бұрын
That is true! We don't really have any tunnels in the Wichita area so I wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks for the view!

I love my 02 Overland's auto headlights. One of the POs put the non-fog light switch on, so I had to get that switch myself. I had to get the Shee-Mar SM413, since there aren't any salvage yards around here with high-end WJs. It definitely looks new and is really stiff, like a new switch should be. The red "eyeball" you mentioned is the LED that blinks when the alarm is armed. It is actually visible through the windshield, even when lightly covered in snow.

Nice, I was tempted to buy a nice new aftermarket switch like you mentioned but wanted to make sure it worked before spending any more on it lol Thanks for the view!

Would definitely love to see a video on how to add the fog lights for the factory switch. Sure there's easier ways to just wire up aftermarket kinds but can't beat factory stuff. Thanks!

nice upgrade , I love it when the wiring is there . I hope my 2000 has the 10 disc changer wiring, I got the changer, but I didn't try to install it yet. from what I've heard I'm out of luck on that wiring being there. so it's back to the u-pull to get it.
@TylerPotter2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think you will need to get the wiring also. Thanks for the view!

It's great you're working on older GC's. I always loved those vehicles, keep it up!!!

You can still get them pretty darn cheap and once they are sorted out they really are nice driving Jeeps! Thanks for the view!

This is so awesome. I’m a huge fan of OEM plus as as well. I think next boneyard trip you should pull one of those infinity head units as it’s your wife’s daily.

I agree. It's cool to add options that the car didn't come with. Especially when you can get used parts on the cheap.

Awesome upgrade, is there any chance you could post a link on where to get the sun load sensor ? I knew you said you got it at the salvage yard. Thanks
@TylerPotter2 жыл бұрын
I just tried googling and it is apparently kind of hard to find online? It may just be easier to find a local salvage yard with a WJ in it. It seems like most of them did have the automatic headlights. Thanks for the view!

My 2000 wj headlights and taillights come on when engine is started, night or day. With the switch in auto.

Sounds like you've got a possible bad sun load sensor on the dash? I would be interesting to install another sensor and see if it corrected the issue. Thanks for the view!

Hi Tyler. Writing to you from Greece, so my WJ should be a EU spec. Anyway, my 2002 WJ limited already had the dash sensor but not the switch. I found a switch and put it on and the auto option did not work. At the auto position, the headlights do turn on irrespectively of light conditions.. along with the rear fog light icon on the cluster. I am really confused.

Well I'll be damned! I have the 03 Overland 4.7 HO (UK spec WG) & just went & checked this out as never noticed this feature all 17 years I have had it. I have the red light sensor thing installed, but no AUTO function on the indicator stalk. I would have thought this would have been on that model.

@TylerPotter2 жыл бұрын
Oh that is a good question I have not messed with or looked into auto wipers yet. I may need to do some research, but it is a pretty rare option to find cheap in the salvage yard at least around here. Thanks for the view!

@@TylerPotter Thanks. Please make a video if you do get to find a workaround like this. Much appreciated 😊

I love your videos, but that tool is not for interior trim. It is for removing the plastic rivets that hold the inner fenders and such on. The proper interior trim tool is a small pointed plastic prybar, so you don't accidentally scratch your interior. The point lets you get in the crevices a little easier than if it were flat.
@TylerPotter2 жыл бұрын
I also have the plastic interior trim tools but I use that thing for everything lol Thanks for the view!
