I'm about 5 years late, but that was pretty slick. The lathe, camera, and lighting were all great. Good job!

Very impressive. Had to go back and watch all of the build videos. Thought I would like to build a lathe myself, but am convinced that the amount of time required is more than I am willing to do. Great Job!!

I just binge watched this entire build. And read some comments. There were a LOT of negative comments. ‘That won’t work’, ‘you’ll never get a good cut with that’, ‘a lathe can’t be built’, etc,,,etc.... And to be honest, I cringed more than once watching. However, I would be curious to know how many of your ‘nay-sayers’ have built anything remotely close to the size and complexity of this build. I love it that you proved them all wrong. Good for you. Keep up the awesome work. And I also just subbed.

Thank you so much for all of these videos and for taking the time to show so many of the steps and talking about how much time you've spent doing it all. Now I can feel comfortable about not building one myself because I don't have nearly the amount of time you've spent on this. Congrats on getting it to work so well.

I am Brazilian and I followed step by step the construction of your lathe, it was very good, I am going to make one too and I intend to make the cross-cart automatic just like yours, the idea of cutting the nut in half was great, congratulations.

Maybe a little too late say but I really like your videos. I’m a mechanical engineer and I always find reason I can’t do something. I really like the way you tackle everything and keep a positive attitude! Keep on building, welding, grinding, and cutting! I’ll keep on watching! BTW, I want to build one just like yours!

Impressive and inspirational home made lathe and you are developing quite a range of skill sets. I think that you would be a worthy winner of one of Keith Fenner's Toolboxes. Make sure to enter.

I want to say i am very impressed with your work on this lathe and how you have adapted to changes that impacted your design. I have a suggestion about the mounting of the chuck. There is a recessed area on the back of the chuck, you can turn the back plate so that it fits in that recess area with a lip .This will allow you to attach the chuck centered without the run out that you have now. You could use the same method of mounting you used at the first chuck mounting stage. Your ideas have changed my thinking when it comes to ( bed travel and way design). Thank you

I love watching the entire build, very impressive job for homemade lathe. I had a production lathe that didn't do the job that yours is doing. congrats on a brilliant job..

I remember about 25 years ago when I was in the same position you were in with this project and all the mental gymnastics I did trying to figure out how to get the materials and tooling I had on hand to make the lathe I wanted to make. It would have been different than yours, but I am not sure how much if any better it would have been. I ended up buying a Chinesium 13x40 and it has been a pretty good machine, but I still admire the hell out of yours. Keep up the good work! :-)
