Good work, RIcky. For others coming by . . . Less than 2600 Gen2 RAV4 EVs (2012-2014) were made; all were sold in California. The Drive Unit ("motor", "LDU") is not a Model S part; while ~80% of the parts will interchange with the Model S, the case is different (Toyota demanded an electrically-operated Park, rather than the MS' no-Park/electric park brake setup); several helical gears are cut in reverse; the entire unit is mounted reverse from how it is in the MS; and several other minor things. The point is that they're not the same, though much is interchangeable. As I've had a contactor failure on one of my RAV4 EVs, I have the pack down for that repair (and a failed HV Battery dehumidifier air pump), I'm running 50mm² cables from the LR fenderwell to behind the LDU for a future install of a NACS port back there. There's a LOT of room behind the LDU for modules, contactors enclosure, etc.. As you've noted, CHAdeMO is being phased out, and stations that still have them almost always have only one, so you are in contention with all the Leaf drivers for those, so adding the extra $900 CCS1->CHAdeMO is a smart move. I (will be) using the FOCCCI open-source CCSx PCB + HV sense module to accomplish CCS1 charging -- eventually. No ZombieVerter module, no BMW LIM, and no ISA-IVT current sensor. Yes, that's "FOCCCI". I'm still worried about your non-weatherproof HV taps on the LDU to push current back to the pack, but it works for you . . . as you know, I'm tapping into the cables between the LDU and the HV pack, extending into the contactors box. All weatherproof.

Isn’t CSS being phased out with the NACS? My RAV4 is unmodified, so no CHAdeMo upgrade. It would be nice to be able to use the Tesla supercharger network. Could you use the CSS adapter with a second Tesla NACS adapter?

Chademo is being phased out, correct. But with nearly one million Nissan leafs on the road there will be plenty of support using the adapter. I had first setup and used the CCS1, by using parts from a BMW EV. Last year I was the first person in the USA to get one of these systems working. After all that research and development to get it to work, I changed gears and decided that using the Nissan leaf system would have a lot more users and support. I also believe this will work with the Tesla chargers. a KZbinr has already used the Tesla magic dock to charge his Nissan leaf. It's just going to be probably another year before Tesla allows Nissan leaf to charge at their charges using the adapter. There are new charges being installed in Florida with the Tesla connector on them and that should be able to work without Tesla's approval. this is because these new charges are not owned by Tesla they're just using the Tesla connector. Of course this would require using the adapter that they are currently using with Ford and Chevy to charge if the tesla charges.

I forgot to ask. Do you have a plug-in hybrid, or do you have a Toyota RAV4 EV? I can do a RAV4 EV in a few hours. But if you have a plug-in hybrid you will have to wait. Next year I'll get the RAV4 prime and it will take me a few months to get that the way I want it.
