well quite often the textures are 2k anyway, so havig a 1k decal mask would be fine

Add an image texture node for the graphic and overlay the graphic wherever you want without distortion or adding geometry.

This is not ideal for all situations. Just arrange the UV and texture it. It's way better. I dont see why you shouldn't use it.

True, but did he say " better way to put decals" in his title? I don't think so, unless he changed it. This is also a way to add decals. If you've heard of decal machine you'll know this method. It's similar. They use this method to keep it non-destructive and be able to change the decal size, position and what not instantly.

@@Reee505 But Decal Mashine also uses very elaborate Paralax shaders to maximize the effect. I maintain that to have simple decals, it is both much more efficient and faster to use Texture Projection.

@@Reee505 Defending the AI voice is one thing, but using the fact this tutorial is made by a beginner is wild. Beginners shouldn't be teaching tutorials and this tutorial is a great example of why. This is training awful rigor and worse discipline. You can cry about negative comments, but yours is arguably worse for adding nothing to the discussion. At least the other person gave feedback for the user.
