Hey I am glad you asked and I will be pinning your comment because I forgot to mention it in the video. I reduce the emotional impact greatly with meaningful stories installed therefore I let that mod mostly take over that area while adding just a little bit of duration it should work just fine together

This is such a great idea! I also especially like the idea of a family sim being more upset with family passing and a loner being less fussed about anyone passing, for example. I’m sure that Charisma did boost socialisation before, you could meet someone for the first time and within a few hours propose to them successfully at high levels.

I think what he is saying is that since his mod nerfs the ability to meet and marry in one day, charisma sort of lost its ability and needed to be fine tuned to have a new purpose other than wooing a sim in 15 minutes. So now charisma helps your job and lowers the the penalty of being mean (something vanilla sims 4 did not do and if it did you couldn't even tell b.c sims always love you).

This mod is so exciting, exactly what the Sims needs! One suggestion: can you also add required degrees for career progression wherever it makes sense? I’m currently using Kuttoe’s Career Overhaul mod and I guess they would conflict. I think this makes degrees much more useful generally.

Maybe not *required* degrees, though, as not everyone will have Discover University in order to get those degrees. But maybe a good idea to improve career progression somewhat if a suitable degree is earned by the sim?

I haven't been this excited for content in the sims for YEARS (I mean it). I've been trying the mod and it's been an exciting journey of rediscovering the game after so many years; it's amazing what having long-term goals can do for the experience. Also, I have some minor feedback: when gifting simoleons the giving end loses the full amount of what's listed in the interaction, but the receiving end only gets half. I use this option a lot in storytelling and this money void that's formed it's my only grip so far.

Great update, it's looking good, Carl! I was playing a bit yesterday and another thing that struck me was how neat and tidy my Sims house was - firstly bring back having to make your beds! But also it would be great to remove the ability to drag and drop plates into the sink/bin/dishwasher. I don't have bust the dust so maybe that contributes a little to this 'chore' side of things but from the Let's Plays I've seen, the way they've done it just looks annoying.

I appreciate the changes to relationship gains. I used MCCC to nerf the gains to the same amount so I was happy I could finally revert these settings and also enjoy some other stuff like the photo relationship gain being removed since it just felt broken to have an unrejectable interaction to be one of the best ways to build friendship.

your mod has made the game more enjoyable again, the game still is shallow but the game actually has some bite in it now that makes you WORK for your nice things and "progress" the game feels like it actually is getting much closer to sims 3 in its gameplay (which is a good thing!) so keep doing what you do, its clearly working and i love it! i hope your sights are set on those weak skill next especially robotics, yikes for a high requirement skill and a high cost sink it doesnt reward you very well and comes with the most oppressive death risk chance in the game next to unchanged murphy beds

Your mod is shaping up great! Please don't nerf the effects from yoga and meditation, they actually work in real life and can give you Sims-like resistance to negative moods. But the wellness skill takes years to max IRL, so slashing the skill gains is fitting for this.

I've immediately downloaded sims 4 again and your mod only, and so far I've had a Townie die from anger, a repair person die from electrocution because every other day I gotta call repair people because gremlin lot trait, I had 1 friend and 1 almost friend after near 50 Sim days, I needed to sell some of my furniture to pay the bills, I've set fire to my crappy stove on 3 or 4 different occasions, and I've broken my computer at least four times because of the clumsy trait. It's been fantastic! 😂❤

I think those are some great changes! I think you've done a good job questioning why elemenfs of the game matter to the player and gameplay. It's the feeling of accomplishment and challenge without buggy annoyance that would be really enlightening in the Sims 4

This looks excellent. As far as suggestions go I'd say that a lot could be improved with the university pack. It's wild that I don't need a degree to be a doctor and that by the time I've gotten a degree I could already be almost at the top of the career with how long it took. I usually play with a mod that let's me chose how many credits I need to get a degree that way I don't go to school for the same amount of time to be a chef as I do a doctor. I'd love to see what you could do with improving that pack.

i just downloaded this mod recently. started a rags to riches with my sim working from home as a gardener. he's halfway into adulthood with a teenager and a toddler and they still have the city living used appliances... but decorating with all the pictures and crafts from the activity table was kind of cute

I feel like this would be the "normal difficulty" for a long lifespan. You can achieve almost EVERYTHING in one lifespan while playing around lazily. But personally, I prefer long lifespan over normal 'cause of college time, etc. So, thank you! finally I can play for a long duration while also planning things.

@@Z3t487 Script and package yes. It's just running in the background impacting these systems. You could test by selling a painting to determine if it's working. If you get half the value stated in-game, you'll know it's running fine.

Your mod is looking awesome so far! I really like the nerfing of exploits. As much as I may like to break a game, I equally if not more so enjoy a complete game with fulfilling progression! Hopefully, when this mod gets ironed out, it will create a sims game play loop on par with that of The Sims 2! Now that game was hard, in the good way! It’s also very nice to see other modder’s work as well, even something as simple as a doorbell is a welcome addition. The create a world looks insane as well, I miss back in the sims 2, with how simple it was to make a new world. Anyways, I look forward to future updates and/or additions!

One thing we need in the sims 5 is for personality traits to be a part of relationship building. In sims 4 how do I get closer with someone that is active and loves sports? Invite them to my lot, spam convo options and now we're best friends. How do I get closer to a loner geek? Invite them to my lot, spam convo options and now we're best friends. I’m in the process of looking for new mods/cc as I finally updated to the current game and installed packs that came after my last update (Island Living because I got tired of everything getting more broken by EA with each new release-I play for distraction from chronic pain, etc, and need a game that works lol). If you don't mind the suggestion: perhaps focus on youth and elder age groups? For example, lowering the skill boost to homework times (except for Logic or other reasonable skills), weaker childhood aspiration bonuses, negative character values having bigger impacts and rebalanced character value gains (some are easier to increase than others, last I remember). Maybe if possible, elders' needs drop faster and/or increase slower (especially things like bladder and energy, in real life older people struggle with those kinds of things) and skill gains slightly reduced? While it won't help with "most TS4 content is for young adults only" it could still help the baseline depth of those age groups, and household dynamics, though I don't know if this level of scale is plausible to ask for.

It would be nice if different portions of the mod could be separated into different package files so you can pick and choose what you want or there to be an in-game menu. If there already is a menu where you can adjust all the settings, my bad, and I will enjoy downloading the mod as soon as possible. One thing I quite like is the mourning part of the mod as my sims would be crying for a whole week over somebody they never even met (such as a grandparent) or only talked to once.

Like the idea of using logic to offset career difficulty, I notice I dont bother building logic much if there isn't a career demand for it. Does the Chess table still build friendship, though? I always thought that was a nice touch. Also, Ravasheen's home business mod seems to have a few features LittleMissSim's doesnt, I'll have to look at it.

Oh Carl I know it's super difficult but if could bring back the skill system from sims3. Jobs should be difficult like military and doctor progress slower but pay more but you need degrees to get into them and writer could be easier but you need to have a ton of skills to be successful.

I have considered making a hard mode mod for the Sims 4, but just didn't have the time. One gripe I have is being able to sell things in build/buy mode. Undo should refund you if you make a mistake, but selling things after you used them doesn't make sense to me. You can buy a recycler and recycle furniture, but walls and paint are still sellable. It's annoying that I have to manually reset my money if I go with a cheaper paint. It should always cost money to paint walls even if the previous paint was more expensive,

Skill gains aren't really slashed right now, just that if your Sim is in a bad mood the gains might be lower. Since the mod makes it more likely that will happen, it's indirectly impacting those gains. But no I didn't touch the fitness system. I'd really like to give Sims a tiny basal metabolic rate and might slip it in though :P

The only thing I'm sad about here is the tiny homes skill boost nerf. I actually go out of my way to take on the challenge of building functional tiny homes so I can give my college students boosts. Maxing all skills is, like, one of the only challenges in TS4, and that was one of my go-to's. But everything else you've done makes perfect sense!

I have one question, after playing with you mod, and it has to do with the mortgage...Is there no way to stop making the mortgage go up? Like, if we have an apartment and we buy new furnishings it doesn't raise the rent, so why should the mortgage go up? Is there no way to only make the mortgage go up if we expand the home like, can you use the Tiny Living system to recognize that we expanded our home only THEN the mortgage will go up? I never understood why EA makes the mortgage go up, isn't it enough that my sims spent the money on new furniture and spent the money to build a new bedroom? I feel so robbed and I feel penalized for doing well.

Not sure if possible since it could be hard coded but when you get popups at work can you remove the text that says what it does or atleast change it to be more subtle. Like knowing my sim is gonna lose their job is not gonna make me want to pick that one. But if it said like something (bad example but) ”High reward high risk” maybe I’m more inclined to take the risk and fail.

Is this compatible with Zero's job/interview/degree mods? Or will there be a way to toggle certain mod features on and off? I like the item and collectible prices being modified, especially for rags to riches challenges, but I also want to be able to have control over certain aspects of careers for my own storytelling. Either way you be covering more bases for players if you could also make separate versions of your mod features.

After watching the video where you introduced your mod, it got me excited about playing the sims again and I actually did. Loved the mod. It added new challenges to my already financially struggling sim-family (I was also playing with strict realistic rules already to make the game more challenging). And yes I agree that the moodlets one was a little intense, so I’m glad you tweaked that in this new update. I haven’t tried the new one yet but I’m excited to do so. Some ideas for future mods: a simple bank system. I know there’s a really good mod about already but I find it too complicated and adding too many unnecessary features. A simple « getting a loan » then repay it with interest in enough for me and it goes well with your money difficulty mod. Another mod idea: bringing back the different ideal moods to work/school. I don’t know why EA got rid of that during the different launches but it made sense to have the best mood for school being focused and the best mood for a creative job being inspired etc. Happy can still work for the ones who don’t require something specific. Another mod idea and something I can’t believe hasn’t existed since TS2: buying clothes should cost money! And if it can be possible the clothes you buy should forever be yours (your family’s) and wearing them again shouldn’t cost any money. The ability to sell the old clothes might be an option too. And if we’d like to go further, there should be incentives of why a sim would go buy new clothes and real gameplay impact of either wearing something new or the same old outfit everyday for a lifetime. If we’d like to go even further I would also add a feature where clothes’ quality decay with each wear, that way it’s an another incentive to buy new clothes (and maybe the creative sims can fix those worn out clothes with enough skill, thus rendering them new).

I love everything you wrote. About the job moods, i miss them too! Although some times i think i had a hard time with it sometimes? Where other emotions overturned the emotion i was going for? If i recall correctly. Yesss about the loans. Should be in the base game honestly. And your clothes idea is great too. Building up a wardrobe. Thats what makes no sense for buying clothes at a retail store. Like im sure retail stores were more meant for a buisness aspect and not a kill some time activity, but it would create incentive to go shopping every now and then!

Please Karl, keep on the grat Job, im sure your mods will make the Sims 4 a Better game, its Amazing what you ve done, screw EA, i dont really care much about they content, i want more of this, so by the way i know might be a little harder, but, it is possible to Mod the autonomy system a bit so Sims can act more normal ?

Question: The occasional appearance of the sims in your videos where they have a different visual to them, is that made in Blender? If so, I WISH the game looked like that by default.

I wish they'd add value to my account for compensating me over a screw up within their system that banned accounts for no reason (literally. No emails, nothing.) for several months. Their "help" was useless. It took 8 months for them to restore my account with no reason given for their screw up. Though a lot of people online had the same issue & it was tied to payments. I did swap a credit card so that could've been it, but to flag it & then take months & talking to 5 different people to get it sorted was ridiculous! I haven't bought a single thing for the sims since then despite having every pack until Cottage Living (& being a loyal customer for Sims games for 20 years).

Did you add more chances for failed interactions? Especially for certain sims with “bad” traits?
