What up brother, i bought a voltage booster from a well know alternator shop. The booster was basically a diode with a harness, I was running a 250 amp cheap alt and the higher voltage or something fried the internal regulator on my alternator and needles to say my voltage jumped up to scary high, not only was the alt toast, it blew both head light and any light that was on.

I think I'm experiencing a similar problem... alternator got super hot & now my voltage has dropped to 11s on idol..

To be honest I would be a little weary about doing this unless I know if it will work with the electrical system in my car. Most alternators don't have a sense circuit in them. In later models, the voltage regulator is controlled by the car's computer. That voltage is monitored by the voltage coming out of the alternator, not by what is going into it. A diode will drop approximately 0.7 volts. If you put the diode in line with the wire going to the alternator control which is the brush in the alternator you are just starving the alternator of .7 volts. In which case the computer will compensate for that. The truth is the job of the voltage regular is to control the output of the alternator. Having said if the alternator in his vehicle has a built-in regulator he may be fooling the regulator by .7 volts making the output change .7 volts.

I got a quick question. Do you have that wire that the diodes in through a relay or fused or just straight to a 12 ignition source? Finally got my diodes in and about to be running 16 volts

What if the alternator only has one wire on the plug? Would that be the sense wire?

Yp jerry!! Is it a bad idea to add diodes to my setup? I ask because I have an 18v super cap bank and a massive agm batt as reserve,just curious bro

I recently purchased a 74AH lev60 battery from jag35 and the ioxus ultra cap battery from big jeff audio to help stabilize the voltage because i was told I will see a major fluctuation in the voltage after the swap to lithium ive already got the ultra cap installed next to the amp I've yet to install the lithium because I don't know how to do it right I only have a stock alternator and can't upgrade due to warranty and CAN BUS system so I went the battery route i know I will need to fuse everything because of the possibility of a surge but do i need an isolator or dc to DC charger or something else like that I want my car to do all the charging and just balance occasionally can you please tell me how you would do it if it was your setup

I just experinced a situation the other day ok usally i charge my 2017 chavy malibu at 15.3 on auto tech 345 i have a diode boosting it to 15.3 hot ive had it like that around 2 years never no problems driving far ok stays at 15.3 sometimes goes to 15.4 but other morning on a cold start took kids to school and on way to work my brake system started to freak out lights going off stabilitrak light abs light so i thought car was messing up but no i turn volt meter on it was reading 16.1😮 only way to get it down was to full tilt it and i got by why would that happend cause today it drove normal

I have a dual alt setup one is designated for the lithium, can I run the “makeshift sense wire” from the stock batttery (that has nothing to do with the system)?

Do I put the diode between my plug and the charge post on my sense wire, my sense wire is on my charge post

So I just tried this with my 2011 Kia Soul to charge my bank of yinlong, but I my multi meter still reads 14.3. Is there something else I need to do or is it that I can't do it with this car?

are you 100% sure you have the correct wire ?

@@JerryAintloud There are 2 wires and I tried both with the same result.

I'm running 3 mechman 240s and got a cmax lithium 135ah bank. How many do I need per alt to charge around 15.5 to 15.8?
@JerryAintloud2 жыл бұрын
something you need to test, normally they are good for .5 volt
