Excellent video. The presentation and your description and word use are flawless. Did you write out your words beforehand and read them as you did the presentation, or is this how you always talk? I just subscribed, looking forward to learning more.

S Bahr Thanks for the kind words, you made my day. I don’t script the demos (with exception being the first and last sentence to help with the “take off and landing”). The rest is how I normally speak. I do tend to misspeak a few times during each recording. I just edit those phrases out so you don’t have to suffer through the off the wall statements that I occasionally make :)

Great walk through on this workflow Jeff!! I am running into an issue with the corridor saying it is out of date once I set the back of curb transition target to the feature line. Is this something you had occur as well?

I found that the difference was I was using a feature line versus a 3d Polyline. The benefit of this is that the Featureline automatically updates if adjustments are made to the profile whereas the 3D polyline doesn't. I am also putting the featureline at the flowline instead of the Back of Curb. If a featureline is used at the Back of Curb it continues to lower futher and further each time the surface is rebuilt.

Jeff, I am using civil 3D 2022. Is there a sub assembly for doing driveways like this? Or do I have to figure out how to create one?

Hi Ryan, No out of the box assembly. With The included Subassembly Composer however you can create most anything you need. In part 1 of 3 I walk through the custom part I made for this purpose. I’ve also created a series that walks through how to use Subassembly Composer on my channel.

can I do something like that with a subassembly included in civil 3d? Or i need composer?

This might be late and you have already probably found a workaround, but I just found out that my company has 2018 AutoCAD Civil 3D Version 2 and in it there is a Driveway subassembly. I'm not sure what version you have, but in the Toolspace, under the Toolbox tab it may be worth checking to see if you are able to incorporate that subassembly. Jeff also has a tutorial in incorporating Service Pack Subassemblies into your Tool Pallet. I hope this information helps you a little.

Great video! Why do you need a left and right driveway block? Won't a single block work, just rotated? Thanks

The left and right driveway blocks would be identical except for layers. The difference in layers helps when he does the targeting for the left or right Driveway Horizontal.

Why wouldn’t you just use corridor section editor to depress the curb at the driveway. Isn’t that a lot easier?

Can I ask something. In this example, if you extract solids how good will be the result? I don't get good results when using complex assemblies.

Maybe give conditional horizontal targeting a try. Then you won't end up with the 0.01 driveway wedge being extracted.
