Adding FAN MADE Enemy to my Indie Game (and other stuff too) - 3D Platformer Dream Game Devlog #18

In this #devlog I show my process of making scenes in unity and my level design. This goes from the concept art stage (quick sketches) to the fully fleshed out game mechanics and objects that are completely playable.I also put a lot of emphasis on polish and game feel!
I add in a Flaming Pie Spider enemy made by Brovia for a discord challenge when I hit 1k subscribers!
There's a new tutorial 1st person game mode that's added as well!I use Unity, Playmaker, and Blender 3D to make my indie game, called Toby's Topsy Tale which was funded on Kickstarter. It is a psychological horror 3D platformer with Lovecraftian elements (which means inspired in part by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Super Mario). These dev logs are meant to serve as a way for me to track progression as I work towards my dream of being a solo indie game dev. Game design is hard but it's easier with such a great community! I'm hoping it won't be long before the game is ready to launch on Steam!For the record, I make my games with no coding (using playmaker which is similar to Bolt) and with no school or formal education in game design, meaning I'm entirely self taught. I only express this because I'm hoping it makes you realize that no matter what YOU can make video games as well!This is hopefully of interest to people who play games as well as those actively pursuing their indie game dev journey and those who have an interest in someday learning how to make games!Keep up the motivation!Speaking of which, make sure you LIKE and SUBSCRIBE! R u gonna make it have a stealth mode? Like when it’s not bothered it looks like a regular pie but when u go near it it turns into a spider? That would be dope and give the players a surprise and make them use some kind of a stealth when they’re playing as Toby

Huge respect for sticking to your project. Your work paid out, your models look good. As for cottage, I find green plain being boring. Maybe think about some texture, distorted image even or image with shader to make it more placed somewhere. If it's cottage, where do people who live there go to buy stuff? Is it modern world? I see fridge so probably. Where cars park? Where do they come from? If you have firewood, where did it come from? You don't have to show everything and create models outside the house too but simply faking that outside you have world placed in reality, it's not much but increases immersion dramatically. Good luck man, I hope to play your game one day

a few tips, 1: try not to instantiate and destroy objects in the scene, I can clearly see the performance spikes here, so I would recommend you to create an object pooling system and activate the object. Then, when you don't need it anymore, disable it, 2: Play Crash Twin Sanity or modern platform games and get inspired; your movement is not 100%, so I suggest you increase the gravity so it lands faster also, make fall animations so it looks nicer, 3: instead of making the character's legs move, why not make it like a South Park game? In my opinion, it will look a lot nicer, 4: Damp the camera Y axis, 5: you could animate the mesh X Y Z, so the animations look more professional, (search for "FEEL" unity asset, don't need to buy just have a idea how it works)

legal notice, you release the game, the guy who sent you the image could sue you, just a friend giving a advice here, also, the models looks good, but the grass and terrain don't fit their styles, so I think you need to re-imagine the enviroment
