This is awesome. I've often wondered how flaps would work with a Y splitter as ailerons do. Never had a plane with flaps. Flipping the servo is genius in it's simplicity. Makes total sense but I wouldn't have thought of it.

If the tape does not stick to the foam as much as you'd like, apply a thin layer of UHU Por to the foam on the places where the tape must stick and let it dry for a few minutes. Then apply the tape (but do it right the first time as it won't come off) and it will stick forever. @Andrew Newton Which temperature hot glue gun did you use for this, is it a special type perhaps? Thank you!

I used split flaps on my Bangood C160 using bottom hinge. Consequently both top & bottom wing surfaces stay streamlined whether flaps deployed or not. .. Only catch is that u got to cut very smartly in the middle of wing on the trailing edge.

Have to check the specs of your ESC but most will handle it OK. I did have to add an external BEC to a Ranger 2000 recently because the BEC on the ESC was playing up.

Another great video I've learned alot from you, I would like to do this on my talon rebel gt in hopes of slowing it down for landing on my short landing space. This thing comes in fast and wants to keep flying, I want to get your thoughts on this before I start cutting also are you deploying these flaps using a y cable and switch? Thanks for all you do.
@AndrewNewton9 ай бұрын
I wouldn't put flaps on the Talon GT myself but it would be an interesting experiment. Y-lead and switch is the normal method.

Thanks for response, just wondering why you wouldn't do this on the talon rebel gt? Do you feel this plane won't benefit from installing flaps? Thanks again
@AndrewNewton9 ай бұрын
Don't know really. I have only put flaps on big planes or gliders. You would have to test carefully to make sure they don't make it pitch up or down too much.

👍👍👍👍 You got me at Flaps!!!!! Already subscriber.....based on your experiencia......in what conditions a regular srifil wing can be replaced by a kfm2 .....what would be the advantages....excluding the easy to build for the kfm2. I am asking because a want to build a 90cm small savage Bobber and i want to replace the wing.....because it is easy to build and i have no experience building a regular airfoil with spars and covering... but i want to keep or have similar lift. And add very thick flaperons. I hope you can send me some comments, many thanks!!
