I am doing a course in classical portraiture, and it's amazing how the underpainting is like the bones of the painting and it shines through the glazes, so it gives it so much more dimension!

@@stephengreico2810 if you can afford it, his older instructional DVDs seem to be much longer form (I have the charcoal figure drawing and it is fantastic: explains what he's thinking the whole time, you get to see every mark he makes and mistakes he corrects and why). The newer videos on his website are, in my opinion, more beginner friendly because of their brevity: there's just not as much to keep track of compared to hours and hours of footage. Either way, both fantastic resources.

Great video. If i may ask as i am a alla prima dummie^^ at which layer/ stage do you use a medium? Example linseed oil. I think all your layers are still wet( alla prima) hope you can help me out. For me its still confusing. X
