Does anyone else feel that Melodyne has made them a better singer? To me it's even more extreme, Melodyne made me a singer. I used to do comedy-type music where I didn't really need to sing very well as that was part of the "charm" (at least that's what I told myself). Since Melodyne I now do pitch correcting when I am making my first draft demo and it teaches me how to sing my own song, in my own voice! I'm in tune by the time I do the final version and then go onstage. I think for natural singers, people really "in their bodies", they practice and adjust till they get it right. For those of us who are more "up in our heads" (IE nerds) that process is more challenging and Melodyne is quite literally the best thing I've found to help me with that. So thanks for a life-changing program

@@mael1515 Personally, I love using Melodyne with the singer sitting next to me. And when I hand him/her the mouse, it's usually not long before we're recording a new take that's most likely a big improvement on what we've had before... - Stefan

@@celemony most of all, I appreciate being able to focus on the emotions, not so much hitting a note spot on or the perfect timing. Since I don't perform live, I have no use for being able to nail all aspects every time.

Honestly, I couldn't work fast enough without my Melodyne studio. I have it for about 5 or 6 years and it took me a year or two to get good at it, and now I do run all my audio through it, not just for tuning and timing, but also tone shaping, chord making, beat stretching, drum editing, getting rid of unwanted noises, you name it. I even bounce midi to audio often, then give it a Melodyne treatment. Great vid as always Stefan! cheers

I love this series of videos. And I learnt something new on this one. What? That you can double click a note with the amplitude tool to turn it off and on - no need to click that pesky "note off" button. But if I didn't already know about pasting (specifically to deselect the note before pasting or it just replaces it) then that would have been more than worth the entry fee alone. Please, keep them coming

Two new things I learned: I can copy and paste guitar notes into different notes and places and I can press Ctrl while sliding the note up and down to hear it in the context of the other notes in the scale! 2nd is especially useful!

I love this. Question, how come sometimes when I copy a note, even one with a hard separation to the note following it, the tail end of the note sometimes has a buzzing-type sound or squishy sound. To workaround this I first try to find the best sounding note and if that’s not possible, I try to fade out the note. I’m just wondering why that is and if there’s a better approach. Thank you

Excuse my ignorance but... I didn't know Melodyne could alter separate notes. Is this a Midi guitar or was it recorded via microphone? I am mindblown and I will try this in the close future.
@celemony20 күн бұрын
No, it's not MIDI - as you might guess from the somewhat noisy signal ;-) It was a Gibson ES-335 with (if I remember correctly) a Fender Bassman, recorded with two mics (SM57 and TLM170) through the preamps of an 8PreX at 96 Khz. The two mics were then mixed in the DAW (without any EQ or compression other than what the guitarist used in his pedal board) to a stereo file that I used in Melodyne. - Stefan

Thanks! Can you make a video about how to make Melodyne always save the Melodyne file in the project folder of the song in Logic Pro? I always have to set up a a new folder when I am in a new project. Is there a way to automate it?
@celemony24 күн бұрын
The ARA version of Melodyne automatically saves all files needed in your project folder. For the AU plug-in, you need to set the project folder manually.
@samuelbreuer24 күн бұрын
@@celemony ah, thank you. I am using Logic Pro 11, so does it make sense to use the art version even though ara is not working in this case?
@celemony24 күн бұрын
@@samuelbreuer As you might know, on a Silicon Mac, Logic currently only supports ARA when you run it in Rosetta mode.
@samuelbreuer24 күн бұрын
@@celemony Yes I know - but I can still choose the ara version in the plugin folder - however it doesnt read the regions and asks you to transfer manually. So it doesn't matter in this case, because its not read automatically?

A question not specific to this video. I have a recording of four backing singers singing harmonies, huddled around just one microphone. It sounds really good (a bit like Barbershop style), but I have decided that I want to separate out each singer's vocal performance into its own track. I have Melodyne Editor. Is there a video in this series that covers this topic ?
@celemonyАй бұрын
If the singers have parts where they sing in unison or where the interval is an octave you won't be able to separate their voice well enough. Since this most likely is only the case at certain spots, you may still be able to do some useful level adjustments or sound processing. But it won't be as convenient and flxible as if you had individually recorded tracks to start with. - Stefan

That CTRL drag while listening to all notes in a stack/chord is tricky. You first need to grab/left click with the pitch tool, when you hear the single note being played, THEN hit ctrl while dragging up and down. If you hit ctrl before any of those steps, it will not work.
@celemony4 күн бұрын
Yes, that’s the right way to do it. We might mention this in a future Quick Tip here. Thanks for watching!
