Very informative Alan, thank you! Can you please explain how to enter overtime AFTER it has been done? Let's say that I have to complete a task today and I have to work 1,5h more that Work to complete it. How do I record this overtime on the specific task and specific date?

+esa actum There is a Actual Overtime Work column that can be added to your tables such as the Entry table of the Gantt Chart. To enter work onto specific dates, you can use the Resource Usage view. This is a Timeline view and you can enter actual hours into it. You might need to right mouse click the right hand view to add the Actual Hours row in. If you specifically need it recorded as overtime, then enter the hours in as overtime and then the additional hours in Actual Hours. Otherwise you can just enter extra hours in here e.g. if the scheduled hours is 8, you can just enter 10. I hope this makes some sense. It is hard to explain in a comment.

This was an immensely useful video. Thank you, Computergaga. Could you please explain how the task duration reduces to 3.75 days. I thought that should be 4 days. 8 hours of standard time plus 2 hours of overtime per day should complete 40 hour task in 4 days (40 hours / 10 hours per day = 4 days) Thank you in advance.

Hi, It is probably not relevant any longer but the answer would be: If 8 hours a day is assumed to be regular working hours and we have 30 hours of regular time + 10 hours of overtime, then the days 3.75 displayed are calculated as the following: Day 1 (8hrs) + Day 2 (8hrs) + Day 3 (8hrs) = 24 hrs. So we have 6 hours of regular work left which means: Day 4 (6hrs). That amounts to: 3 full days (24hrs) + Day 4 (6 out of 8hrs) = 3 days + 6/8 = 3 days + 0.75 days = 3.75 days Overtime is not calculated for the regular days as they purely follow regular working time. The overtime is done each day in the evening or night or whenever just outside work hours. MS project does not care when overtime is done, just that it is done. Hope this clears things up. Took me some time as well. Cheers
