Beautiful set-up, Jake! I love the color of your substrate. It really compliments the green of the plants. The driftwood is looking really awesome. Great planting tips too. You've put a lot of thought and work into this. I'm a bit impatient, so waiting for plants to fill in is the hard part, but the pay-off is always worth the wait if everything is set up right. Thanks for posting!

Dear Jake: Your, 125-gallon set-up is coming along very nicely. May I ask, do you plan to add glass canopies or some other type of lid to prevent animals from jumping out and to slow evaporation? The plants that you have selected look very good. However, I’d like to make one suggestion. In reading The Ecology of the Planted Aquarium I learned that the allelochemicals exuded by jungle vallisneria species, including Vallisneria Gigantea and Vallisneria americana, tend to damage dwarf sagittaria (Sagittaria subulata) and vice versa. I believe that the main reason I have had such difficulty with these species is that I had them together in my, 75-gallon tank, initially. I have since moved them to separate tanks and hope that they will soon thrive. Thank you for giving us this update of your, terrific, large, planted tank. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar

Hey Brinegar, I have canapies for this tank, I'll probably be keeping them on the tank except when I'm filming it, especially when I begin stocking with fish. I forgot all about that! I read the same book by Dianna Walstad. We will see how it goes in this tank. Both plants are showing signs of new growth. I appreciate your support!!
