What a transformation from just 6 months ago. You are such a hard worker. Love you brother ❤

You should see it now!! Really getting it organized. I'll have another video on the place soon. And as soon as it warms up a bit, I have the metal to take out the windows. Thanks bro 🤜🏼🤛🏼

This is a great project. Very impressive. I need to do the same thing in my shop but I'm still researching. I find it VERY challenging to attach wood to the girders. I've mostly drilled holes and used bolts/nuts. I think some kind of power tool would be easier. I have a framing nailer but never considered it might do the job. What did you find worked best to attach wood to the girders as far as which tool in conjunction with which fastener? Thanks so much. Would love to see the finished project.

Another great vid Kyle! I watched your whole basement finishing series from your old house and am using it for inspiration on my own basement. Only thing that bugs me in this vid is the schedule 40 pvc air line. I've seen to many pvc air lines rupture at only 90 psi to trust it. Copper, aluminum, iron pipe sure but not pvc. Keep up the good work brother!

thanks Paul, glad the old basement videos are helpful!! My dad actually built this shop over 20 years ago. He installed the PVC all around the building for air lines. We've never had one rupture yet, but honestly if did, at least PVC is cheap! Thanks man!

Howdy, GREAT JOB !! My steel building is finishing up today. Quick question, are you glad you did the walls the way you did? I too am thinking of going with plywood. Any guidance is appreciated. Also, any do's and don'ts you could offer related to finishing out the building would be appreciated. CHEERS !!

Very happy with the walls. Durable, have a little shelf up top for storage, and can screw anything into the wall at any place. Definitely run more electrical outlets than you think you'll need. Twice the amount you think you'll need really. Every 8 ft there should be a place to plug Something in! Also running several hookups for air is super nice. I have 8 spots throughout the shop that are connected to my air tank

13:30 did you screw or nail the 2x4 down to the metal?
@LifeofBliss9 ай бұрын
I screwed them down with self tapping metal screws. Didn't nail them. Wanted to be able to remove them easily down the road if needed.

Wonderful timing - I was just watching the two most recent videos and while you were working on the smoker with the winter warm clothes, I was wondering if you might have insulated the garage and what you might have (or plan to do) for HVAC / heat in the shop? BTW, based on how you are dressed up in this video (shorts and no winter gear and fans running), was this video shot during the warmer months? Or maybe since your dad used the shop for many years prior, the shop might already have heat? Or maybe it is already Spring where you are (not so much for us in the Frozen Tundra 😊). Anyway, glad to see you getting back to KZbin (even though I am sure your hands are quite full with all the shop renovations and other projects) and I look forward to upcoming videos 👍

Thanks man, trying to get back in the groove of things... so this was late last year. Wanna say even October? We had some warm days still. The smoker was mid November, so it had chilled down a bit. I put up a few more walls and as soon as it warms up I have the metal to replace windows and finish up all the walls. Hoping by the end of this month I'll have the metal up. The shop has a natural gas furnace, a big blower ceiling mount unit. Actually does a great job if you really needed to heat it up. I mainly just keep it a little above freezing to make sure chemicals and paint stuff doesn't freeze and go bad. It's helpful if you need to paint in the winter time though. Only insulation I'm adding will be where the windows are being taken out. I'll just throw some behind the plywood walls before I close em all up. Gonna try to have at least 1 video every 10 days or so for a while to get things going again! More fun stuff to come...

I like the breakdown of what and why .... much better than just a showcase some people pump out. Are you living on a farm and this is your giant general purpose space or is your work more about trade activity? I'm only new to watching your channel (found you through your GSG posts). I gather you live in a geography that gets hit with snow and serious cold weather? What insulation is behind that plastic? It looks a lot more cost efficient than having a full construction of steel/styrofoam/steel sandwich panels that are increasingly common here in Australia for sheds/garages/commercial carports etc as well as home verandahs (it's awesome for long unsupported sections). Our management is more about keeping cool not heating though :)

Hey man, thanks for checking out my channel. We live on some acreage and this is just a personal shop we have. Not necessarily business related, although it will be a space for me to do projects as well as youtube videos. We do get col weather 3-4 months out of the year. The Midwest in the USA. Snow periodically and Temps below freezing and sometimes below 0 at times. The insulation is installed before the outer metal panels during construction. Not sure of the R value, but its mainly to help with heat loss during winter. It would help with air conditioning during the summer if there was an AC in the building, but there is not one. We have a natural gas furnace that we run during the winter that keeps the Temps about 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit to keep things from freezing

Lol - I've got a 30x50 shop that needs this treatment too - come bring your tools 😂 - not until my basement theater is done though!

All that "extra stuff" I have for sale (upgrading before upgrading) - might end up in the shop as theater #2 - I've always wanted to build in a section as a true man cave... that'd compliment the setup will with full bath, bar, race sim, etc..

I would love to make a hang out area in my shop... unfortunately I think I have too much stuff to fit much more than a small couch or a few chairs.
