if you're going to make friendly fire a staple mechanic of this, you should totally add an upgrade/item that lets you fox shine projectiles

As a more obnoxious expansion of this comment: If your TD is going to have an action/movement focus, what crazy mechanics have you considered adding to make your character jive with the TD elements? Are the turrets going to have more interaction with you, as a character? Some ideas that come to mind are: -Placing a tile that gives you a temporary speed buff when walked on, so you can have more agency moving around. -Mirror Tower, intended to catch bullets that miss and give them second chances. Multiple mirror bounces = more power. -Circle of towers you must walk around to, connect together, that fries enemies between them. Like Art Attack from Paper Mario: TTYD or Black Powder from Binding of Isaac. -Towers that are manual fire only, but you can eventually wire them to pressure plates (with $$$). Maybe a character build where you get more wire range, and buffs after triggering a manual turret? -Combination turrets that require player input. One starts as a bomb tower that periodically spawns bombs for you to pick up and throw. Later, you can attach an arrow/trebuchet turret to automate shooting those bombs. -Tower that you can sacrifice health to, to give it huge buffs. -Crown hat, that buffs towers in a small radius of where you're standing. -Sniper towers that are powerful, but refuse to fire if you block their sight lines. And finally: -Putting your old/lesser hats on turrets, so they can get buffs while you use the better/upgraded hats you get later on.
