So, when I was a teenager I went to the Diesel Institute of America and our year end test was to pull a city bus into the shop, tear the engine out of the back of it, rebuild it and install it again. If it ran properly, we passed, and we did. One of our special field trips was to go to the port and inspect a container ship's 9 cylinder Wartsila diesel. They handed me a single piston ring and it was 4 feet in diameter and as thick as your hand all the way around. You can imagine how much power and torque that engine makes to move a 100,000+ ton ship. Plus, it had a turbocharger that was about as big as my Peterbilt attached to it.
@01cumminsho263 жыл бұрын
So old school. Propane has been dead in the diesel world for like 10 years lol. 426hp at the wheels is so easy to make even on an old LB7 without injecting anything into it.

@BucksSuperStereoWorld5 жыл бұрын
@falchulk This is true. I am 36 and I drive multiple trucks every day, although I work with mine because I deliver oilfield equipment to gas pads here in the northeast. Alot of people just buy a truck to drive every day, but in reality they're just like people with cars. People modify their cars, but they don't work out of them, and alot of people regard buying a truck as just having another vehicle and they never haul anything more than the occasional furniture piece for a friend. My manager is from Canada and both him and his wife drive trucks and you know she's never hauled anything in hers, that's just what they prefer to drive instead of a car. My point is that you don't have to work with your truck to own one, it's a lifestyle choice like started above. Some people just like to sit up high over the road when they drive. I've owned many trucks in my lifetime so far. I own 6 of them right now including a 2014 Peterbilt 367, a 2014 Ford F-750, a 2011 Ford F-550, a 2017 Ford F-550, a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500HD, and a 2015 Chevrolet 2500HD, ALL diesel trucks for hauling, and I also own 5 gooseneck and fifth wheel trailers for these trucks. I daily the Ram.

@@TexasGTO late response, but I feel like they didn't want to give people the idea to do something that may blow their engine. 75 isn't a lot, but it can be enough to start knock, especially when you're considering whatever else they got from the propane.
@Itsjustgaming8593 жыл бұрын
@@TexasGTO gotta take into account that those year duramaxs weren’t the best in terms of strength, I mean those were some of the first development duramaxs when they were still working out all the kinks, plus you can tell it’s old do to the fact I doubt people are doing propane injection anymore these days. Most people are twin and triple turboing their diesels now a days and they actually make triple turbo kits for the duramaxs now, plus most set ups have nitrous just for turbo spool and not so much for down track runs. They are running 4 times the amount of HP now compared to then as well, I mean last duramax I saw on the dyno was well over 2,000HP and like 3,000 flbs of torque. It was also a built truck too though were as this one was probably stock internals but even so people are running 700HP in duramaxs easily with stock internals which is still pretty crazy in my opinion.
