The different colors of static grass really adds to the scene.

Thank you, there are so many colours available and lenghts, Takes a bit of practise but once you get the hang of it, you are away.

Thank you for showing me how to add grass to a verticle surface!! I have been thinking of a way to search how to do that for weeks now and wasn't expecting to see it in your video. Perfect technique, I've tried it shortly after watching and it worked perfectly! You saved my week!

Glad it was helpful! Remember don't breath in through the straw, lol

Well done mate! Way to combine it all into one video; then if folks have question about a specific scenicing function they can focus on finding info on that.

Looks great Mark. Much better than my childhood mail order train set with a grass mat, lychen and scatter material, and those signs and power poles that always break.

Nice to see you using flock under static grass, I think it looks far better than going straight to the 2mm grass as the base. It's far more hard wearing and helps the look if the boards get bashed about a bit. I also liked the additional flower colours lightly sprinkled over the rougher terrain, giving a far more realistic look of weeds and wildflowers that populate areas such as this. Often you see different layers/colours of grass and nothing more. The tip of blowing the flock onto more vertical surfaces with a straw was excellent, hadn't thought of that and the additional tip of not sucking in was duly noted 😁.

Yes I think it gives a good effect. Yes don't suck was coughing up green scatter for weeks. LOL

Enjoyed this Mark. Looks like your modelling budget exceeds mine. I did enjoy the tree making with the sea foam. Looks like a good budget alternative. Those www products are quite expensive. Wonder does my local hire co hire our the wwwtype static grass applicator (joke). I do like your videos and look forward to the next one.
@DonegalDadRail2 ай бұрын
Yes it is expensive, I have purchased the various applicators over several years. It is very good kit and they have a large range of grasses and scenic materials

Enjoyed seeing you flock a tree! LOL But it made the tree look like it had a electric shock from the Grass Box Applicator and honestly wouldn't use those spices to cook something up.... apart from a Model Railway, great video and enjoyed it

Looking good Mark, well done. Quick question, I know you will know the answer, what colour ballast did the CDR use back in the day? Thanks. Doug.
@DonegalDadRail2 ай бұрын
Thanks Doug, like a lot of railways they used what was nearby. Walking the trackbeds around here (Donegal Town Barnesmore Area) it seems to be gravel from Barnesmore Gap which is red/orange granite type .
