Someone once said that "wealth is measured by what you can live without, not by what you have". You sir are appreciative and very wealthy.

Love the photo album! What a special gift. Enjoy your new mattress. When we first moved off grid, we slept on a wood sheet of plywood until we could afford a new mattress. That was rough and made us appreciate finally getting a better sleep setup. I’ll bet you’ll also find your bed doesn’t get nearly as dirty and crumby as when you were on the floor. If you’re concerned about any issues with moisture on the mattress since you’re in such a tiny space, you may want to check out waterproof mattress protectors. There are some that fit over it like a fitted sheet, but there are also ones that zip around it to completely encase it. Either way, sleep well!

@@miscellaneousme Thank you very much! It does seem like it'll be much easier keeping the bedding clean this way. I did see those mattress protectors at the store and wasn't sure what they were about. I will monitor things to see if I begin having any issues. Thanks for sharing the tip.

@@TheBackwoodsHermit We used to own raw acreage in Arkansas and the plan was to build an off grid homestead, but we just couldn't seem to get it together enough to get it started. Alas, we sold the land a few years ago. I would LOVE to try again.

@@Chickenfoothomestead I hope you guys get that opportunity again. I love how sparsely populated it is down here, but will always welcome good people to be neighbors. Unfortunately, land prices have skyrocketed since 2020. I fear there is no end in sight to rising costs either.

@@TheBackwoodsHermitWhen we first moved to our area, land was about $1,700/acre. Now, my neighbor is selling raw land with a small clearing and gravel pad on it for $9,000/acre 😱
@TheBackwoodsHermit3 ай бұрын
@@miscellaneousme Wow, that's crazy. 6 years ago, when I first started looking at the Ouachita Mountain area, it was common to see 40 acre properties with an old house on it for $70k. Now that $70k gets 8-10acres of raw land with nothing on it. The only reason I could get the 21 acres I got is because it had the nightmare hill for an entrance nobody else wanted to deal with. Now after getting that work done to make the driveway nice, there is no way I could afford this property if it were on the market today.
