I like the idea of 12 little gardens of each month to plant from month- to- month around the yard in order and leave some room to check out each month each year to see if you find something else you love to add in future years.🎉 Jason, has been doing a great job doing the videos on his own, and is looking much more relaxed doing so.🎉. Congrats, Jason!😊🎉

The Hellabores are awesome! My mom moved to Idaho from CA in nov. She’s a huge gardener and couldn’t take plants with her really so my sister and I got to have a free for All in her yard. The Hellabore has been through rain and freezing temps and even wind, then out of the darkness came these super beautiful white and greenish flowers! I had no idea because I’d gotten them from my mom! Well worth it to purchase!

I have a dedicated area under my Oak tree that have Hellebores, snowdrops, a Fatsia japonica, cyclamen and Erythronium. Right now it is in full bloom and I can see the beauty of it from all back windows in my house. This morning I just noticed the pulmonaria in front of all that beauty has started to bloom. Yep, it's great to have spring colour. Cheers the mood up no end, especially as it's pouring with rain all day today here in Worcestershire, U.K.

The proper name for the lilac vine is Hardenbergia, it's also commonly known as False Sarsaparilla, or Purple Coral Pea. There are three species and several cultivars. I suspect the one you have is Hardenbergia violacea 'Happy Wanderer, which will climb if given something to climb on, but it can also be used as a great ground cover. In Australia we also have Hardenbergias that grow as shrubs, and we have different colours, from dark purple to light purple, white ones, and the occasional somewhat rare pick one.

I enjoyed your trip to the garden center and love your plant choices. I do have some large buds on my hellebores in southern Wisconsin. I also have some anemones still green that overwintered. When it was really cold, they had snow cover to protect. I just covered them with some green cedar and hope that they hang on into spring because our snow has melted. I do have lots of green inside under growlights--- lisianthus, violas, pansies, eucalyptus, iceland poppies, snapdragons, ranunculus, and anemones. Thanks again for this colorful and fun video!

Check the trellis at Costco (when they come in). Inexpensive, sturdy. I do attach mine to my crappy fence with an eye screw and wire for a little stability but the weight is supported by the legs. You may not like the design but the hardenbergia will hide it in no time. Mine grows outside the window where I put my Christmas tree. Since I'm always a little sad when I take down the tree, the plant in bloom is a comfort.

I love those colors together. Those viburnum were gorgeous too! And the blue primroses. I have a tough time figuring out which primrose would be perennial here (z5). I don’t think we can trust garden center plants to bloom the same time as they get them blooming here in our area. That would be fun though to have a garden patch for each month! We can get pretty blooming hellebores now, but can’t put them outside yet. The ones planted in the ground have just tiny bits of proof of life on just a couple.

@@karysu51I made a homemade free standing trellis using an 8'5' cattle panel and three 8ft long, 4x4 pressure treated fence posts. And I am not handy at all. What's nice is that although heavy I can still pick it up and move it if I don't like the spot. Cost about $150 in materials but much cheaper than paying hundreds of dollars for a 6ft trellis that isn't even free standing.

Osmanthus, you’ve gotta get an Osmanthus fragrans, they have the most wonderful apricot smelling bloom. It’s an evergreen shrub/tree… not the most exciting to look at, but worth the fragrance. You can tuck it away somewhere and you’ll be able to smell it from far away. I was introduced to it while in a horticulture class at UCDavis, so it will definitely work for you.
