Maybe Russ needed to warm up a little considering he hasnt played in over 13 months? Yeah obviously momentum is huge in sports, but I do not think that pic was the reason the steelers turned around and scored 31 unanswered points over the next 3/4 of the game lol. As Russ started to make throws the playbook opened up, they had to spread out the secondary, and our running game took off. Similar how the first drive we marched downfield because they were playing safe. Then they started rushing the house but Russ made them pay. That first pass to pickens shifted the Jets entire defense.
@tylerthrasher-walker560222 күн бұрын
@@mrnst7 see I agree with that with how everything went down and again I’m very happy we won but we beat a 2 win team lol. I also think the way you call a game up 21/18-6 matters too. By keeping it close the jets weren’t able to T off on us and Art was able to dial up some plays to get Russ going. We saw how it looked when they got pressure and it wasn’t great. I’m sure that’s why they were booing in the stands. Overall I’m excited with the barrage of points we got offensively, I just like keeping things in perspective and add other context to the overall idea. I appreciate your feedback on it too!
@mrnst722 күн бұрын
@@tylerthrasher-walker5602 yeah I agree, but when you spend a majority of the salary cap on the defense they do need to make those plays to keep you in the game. At least now It wont feel like an automatic loss if we go down by more than 10 points in a game lol. I do think the Jets have a good offense, but we realistically blew those tackles on that 53 yard pass to Hall. We needed to start Russ off against these lower tier teams before our bye so I think It is working out perfect. I cannot imagine what they scheme up after a few weeks. My only concern is if Russ just keeps underthrowing moon balls the DBs are going to take advantage. They just need to turn their head and then It is a 50/50 ball every throw.

@@mrnst7 I’m hip, it is nice not worrying if you’re gonna score. If it’s not GP I don’t know if he should throw deep because i don’t trust our other wr to contest the way GP does. I hope we cook the giants by 15+ going into the bye.

I feel like if Russ keeps playing well you could see another 1 year deal for cheap because the broncos are on the hook for it. He didn't have a great game, true. But you can tell he is searching for that play that will turn things around for him. Last week he was so upset he did not get a pick. He is really trying to make plays, but I think when Payton on the field he is also trying to cover for him and make sure he is where is supposed to be, which is slowing him down a little bit. He is constantly communicating with Payton so I don't think he can play completely free yet knowing that he will be where he is supposed to at all times because he is a rookie. It will come, trust.

Big Ben don’t know ball like Tomlin does. His takes from the past week won’t age well.
@mrnst722 күн бұрын
I watched Big Ben’s comments and he specifically said to the word that he would have kept Fields as the hot hand since they are winning and you never want to take your foot off the gas, but he acknowledged that Russ opens up the passing game because of the way he can get air under his deep balls and give the receivers better opportunity to come down with contested catches. So I think Ben completely understands the situation. Not sure what you heard exactly but I watched his comments the day before the game and I think he was dead on accurate. He even talked about how It would open up our running game as long as the Oline can protect him and he is mobile enough to step up in the pocket
@steelymcafeeliac105022 күн бұрын
@@mrnst7 I’m talking comments he made last Sunday and Monday, he softened his comments then because earlier in the week before Justin’s interview he was just saying stay with the hot hand, problem with that is the hand wasn’t hot. It was warm. He also (like other former QBs) said Justin shouldn’t be benched, which also isn’t the situation for a starter returning from injury, a backup doesn’t get benched when the starter returns. After Justin spit bars of truth (He’s a real one for that) lots of comments softened. If you think the comments you heard Ben make prove that he knows ball better than coach T, I simply don’t agree. Remember I never said Big Ben doesn’t know ball. I said coach T knows better.

@@steelymcafeeliac1050 just an interesting take because Ben is responsible for 90% of Tomlins wins and was highly praised for his constant play call adjustments and audibles. Everytime the offense played poorly Ben fixed It. Technically, Tomlin isnt a good offensive coach and is not good at analyzing QB play, but I think he went with his gut knowing that Wilson had the potential and pedigree, and either way I am greatful for It. Truth is Ben isnt on the team anymore so It really doesnt matter what he thinks lol, I was just saying that I think he was well aware of the upside, and was only against taking the risk of It slowly down fields growth

@@mrnst7 Ben is not responsible for 90% of Tomlin wins. That’s a weird way to think of it. All the players are responsible for 100% of his wins. If Ben was such a genius why did he play better under Arians than other OCs if he had the ability to fix any offense? Why didn’t Ben fix the Canada offense he was in? The answer is Ben is a gold jacket QB not a coach, adjusting a play isn’t creating a play. Tomlin knows all 3 phases better than Ben seen more games, been a part of several franchises and has more rings. Tomlin genius, Ben smart guy.

Sugar coat it all you want they did Justin dirty! Of course Russ is more experienced and it's his first game but let's be realistic his passes weren't that accurate and several plays he could have used his legs and gained yardage instead he threw incomplete passes. The 2 passes to GP were only caught because of the skills of GP otherwise they would have been incomplete as well. GP should get the praise instead of Russ. I'm not a Russ hater and I am happy that we are in a much better place with QB than we've been since they ran Ben out but Justin is more of our future and has more to offer than Russ. Seems like they are trying to get out of paying the extra on Justin's contract if he plays over so much this season!!!! Everything in life is about $$$$$ Tomlin just openly proved that.......
