My husband had a custom made for me last Christmas (130 X 90) and I've put off starting it for a year because I felt so uncertain. I have watched more You Tube videos about how to do a large canvas than I can count, but I didn't find them helpful at all. Today I found your video and I couldn't be happier. You explained everything so I could totally understand it and your manner of explaining everything was so calm and reassuring that I am positive I will be able to use your method with no problems. In fact, I am going to go back and watch as many of your videos as I can just to see if you've got more helpful tips that I haven't even thought about before. You did such an excellent job! Keep making more videos. Everybody learns differently and your style is perfectly aligned with how I work, so I can't wait to see what else you may teach me.

I love the pipe lagging idea. I have been very frustrated trying to work on my first large diamond painting 50x60cm. I have rolled up the ends and used clips but the roll just has no structure and I find it annoying to deal with. The pipe lagging will give it some structure. I also like the idea of sectioning out progress and seeing it as a project that I work with along with other smaller diamond paintings. I don't want my diamond painting to feel like work which it had started to feel like so I had put it away for a while. It is all supposed to be fun.

I saw you struggling with the diamond art club stickersheet. What i do to combat that peeling of one by one, is dont cut of the numbers. Then cut in all the symbols until the number section (u have them in one big row like a comb, the back of the comb is not cut in which is the numbers). Then u can peel of a bit of the sticker hold that part, and cut the part u want one by one by cutting of the part where the number is. In this way u only peel up once, what is left of the sheet is the row of numbers.

I have found that to get my canvasses flat, I attach hooks over the back of a door. Then, with a clip hanger, I put a length of stiff cardboard across the clips and clip one end of the canvas onto the hanger and hang it up when I am not working on it. This seems to relax the picture.

I just picked up a package of these on clearance at Walmart! I cut a piece to put on the top of my light board because I have it up at an angle and my canvas was draping over the back and I was worried it would crease. I appreciate you showing how to roll the canvas up, I assumed you'd roll around it, and hadn't thought about using that slit in the foam to help. Thx again for a great video!

I’m so glad I have found your channel and your great tips and tutorials. I started diamond painting about four years ago. Then had some life interruptions and put it away for the past two years. I recently started watching your videos and have fallen in love with this craft again. I pulled out an old DP that I’d been working on before I got too busy, and started doing it again. I found out about Diamond Art Club and ordered a couple. I am blown away by their superior quality. I doubt I will ever order from any other company again. Thanks again for your helpful videos! I’m working on my HAED on a children’s art table that has a wooden rod for putting rolls of paper on. I have put pipe lagging over the rod and used that to roll the canvas around. If I’m working on a painting that has a lot of arrows etc and have to turn the canvas to work on it I turn my diamond storage to correspond with the symbols on the canvas.

Hi Rebecca. Is there a reason you don't use the foam roll that comes with some diamond painting kits instead of the pipe stuff? Just wondered why you would pay for the pipe stuff instead of reusing the roll that comes with some diamond paintings. Love all your videos.
@addmorezest2 жыл бұрын
The pipe lagging is only about £1.50 for a large strip that does 2-3 paintings and its thicker than the one that can come with paintings. The main reason I use it is that it has a slit for the diamond painting to grab onto though, I find it's easier to use.

Not sure how wise it was having never done diamond painting before, but I've bought myself a huge 80 x 110cm. My kitchen table is 36" square, so I will be working on it turned with the 80cm facing me. Found this video really interesting and helpful even though it hasn't arrived yet, but I'm getting very excited about it. Just one thing I would like to know, what are the dimensions of the lagging you are using.

Another great video! The only question I have is, where do you place this canvas when you aren’t using it? It is easy to stick smaller canvases under a bed etc in a folder, but because this is always rolled it won’t fit in a folder.

For this one, it just sits on top of my bookcase in my craft room when not working on it. I've also been known to put them back in the box they came in. As there are no longer diamonds in there it has room.

Thank you for the tips and taking the time to make your awesome videos! I'm getting ready to work on my first large one and I definitely want to use the square cover sheets method. Not sure where to get them, so I was wondering what I can use around the house to make my own? (I'm a DIY type of girl.) I'm not planning to roll it up so what would you suggest I do about preventing dust from getting on the finished sections? (I keep it flat until I frame it).

You could just cover it with the clear sheet that comes on it to prevent dust if you need to.

When you start at the bottom and do the two sections did you say you turn it around and start the other way making the finished part go over the top of your easel, unrolling from your lap area as you go? If so, are you working upside down for the rest of the canvas? As you can see, I’m a little confused. Probably because I have not yet worked on a canvas larger than my easel. Thanks for these helpful hints.
@addmorezest4 жыл бұрын
Once I've done the 2 rows at the bottom, I will keep moving up until the painting with diamond on starts hitting my knee, then turn it the other way. As this one is long horizontally, I already work on it with the symbols on their side. I just tilt my head a little to work out what symbol I need from the case and then work on it as normal. (in my head I see the symbol the 'wrong way' but the way up I can see it.)

When u work on big paintings do you. Seal your dp painting as you go or do u not seal it do u just roll it My other question s if u roll the diamond painting the other way with diamonds on it By doing that do the drills fall off hmm. I haven’t tried a big canvas yet But I want to From Kate last ♥️💙❤️💛💚💜🧡
@addmorezest4 жыл бұрын
I don't tend to seal paintings, I only seal partials (because of the glue around the edge), or off the canvas items that get handles a lot. I roll the canvas out to stop the diamonds moving by touching each other, they don't tend to fall off.

so i made the mistake of covering the whole DAC painting with these little squares :( is it possible to re-cover it with plastic so i can roll it using this method?
@addmorezest Жыл бұрын
You can, if you have the original plastic; however, the clear plastic can only be stuck to the painting on one side. So be sure you get the right one, as while it can come off if you get it wrong, it can also get stuck.

@@CrystalJenni Maybe if you have somewhere to lie one flat, you could take the clear cover off one you've not done yet, and then put it back once you've finished? You can cover the one your not doing in cover paper safe until then.
