We are living in a time of profound and unprecedented challenges. From conflict zones that displace millions, to climate-induced disasters, to the rise of inequality and political polarisation-the global crises we face are complex and interconnected. No one nation, no matter how powerful, can resolve these challenges in isolation. And yet, the international community finds itself increasingly divided, fragmented by competing interests, rising nationalism, and eroding trust in multilateral institutions.
But amid these challenges, we have an opportunity-an opportunity to reaffirm the power of humanitarian diplomacy.
"Humanitarian diplomacy is not about politics; it is about principles. It is about ensuring that, even in the most polarized environments, the universal values of human dignity, compassion, and mutual respect prevail. It is about leveraging dialogue, negotiations, and partnerships to save lives, protect the vulnerable, and build bridges where there are divides." said our CEO, Feraye Ozfescioglu
at her opening remarks at the high-level event we hosted last week at the Houses of Parliament.
The event welcomed a great array of attendees from diverse representation. We are grateful to Baroness Shaista Gohir OBE for her remarkable moderation of the panel attended by H.E. Lolwah Al Khater, Minister of International Cooperation and Lord (Tariq) Ahmad of Wimbledon; as well as to H. E. Fatima Maada Bio for her closing remarks.
