Is the IB Diploma program as hard as students portray it to be? Is it true that you have to be a mathematical genius to get a 7 on Math HL?

It is hard for people who cannot manage their time properly.. but the content of most subjects is not that difficult. You definitely need to be good at maths and have excellent logic skills to get a 7 from Math HL.. you can't get a 7 from hard work only. However, even if you are a mathematical genius you're not guaranteed a 7.. it also depends on luck. There was a boy in my Maths class who was a genius.. he would solve each question so effortlessly and would come up with the smartest tricks.. but he only got a 6. So my point is, you have to be very good at maths to get a 7.. but you're not guaranteed a 7 even if you are a genius.

...lucky chair. And brilliant advice I should've been following when I took my A-Levels ages ago. Love you mentioned how different scenarios and subjects are connected, a bit like interdisciplinary study and thinking. Really helps with understanding elements, to look more broadly across categories. But, sorry to hear about your cat. I'm also previously a cat owner. And good luck with the Econ remark. After last week's video they ought to know you're not to be #@!%ed with ;)

I'm in year 10 or year 11 for those in the UK and finishing the MYP (pre-IB, so I have to do my personal project on top of my subjects), but we are making our IB choices for IB and I've chosen the following: Chemistry HL (I absolutely love chemistry! kind of a nerd! but i love it! - planning on study science related subjects in uni) Biology HL (again I love biology, not as much as chemistry but I am fascinated by the subject) Economics HL (I did well in my economics paper this year [MYP 5] and heard and was told economics is the easiest humanities subjects so i guess here i am) Maths Analysis and Approaching SL (different i know - new ib maths) German B SL (I'm fairly good with my german, in phase 3 out of 5 (5 being fluent) but german B will be between 3 and 4) English Language and Literature SL (I'm fairly good at english but I find economics easier to understand but i'm still bouncing between those two)

I would say that memorising isn’t that bad IF YOU DO UNDERSTAND THE SUBJECT. I mean, when you’re doing the actual exam you don’t have to think about how to structure your ideas for an open question because you had already planned and memorised it. It really saves you a lot of time, but it’s only a wise option if you really understand it so you actually know what you’re writing about. 😂😂

Oh yeah definitely!! :) Memorising is helpful as long as you don't substitute it for understanding..something that people would do in my class is they'd memorize the textbook word by word and were surprised when a logic-based question appeared 😳 BUT It's defo helpful to go through the mark schemes and memorise keywords or phrases. 😅

How DID you get 44?! 😮 I'm so jealous! I'm crossing my fingers for 40+ next year and 777 at HL! Although it will all be derailed if I don't pass maths... 😩 We HAVE to do continuous CAS through the second year, and through the exam season too! I don't know why, but we have ridiculously high CAS standards. 😅 Re questions: How did you manage with 4 HLs? Any advice for managing CAS and EE with the other subjects? How do you manage extracurriculars with the hectic life of IB?

I did my hw at home over the weekend usually.. but I lived about 90 minutes away from the school, so by the time I came home it would be 7 and I would be too tired to do anything.. So it was better for me to first do the work and then go home.. Also as I said, doing work in a cafe motivated me to finish it.

Can I ask for some advice about IB? I originally wanted to do full IB but then I started working and I work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I'm scared because what this is the classes I'd take: IB Spanish SL IB Physics SL IB English HL IB Environmental SL APUSH honors math 3 I've recently been thinking about how I should probably the do IB certificate but when I go to college I would love to major in law. I'm stuck because I want to go to a good school and work hard but I also want to rest especially from sophomore year and how horrible my history teacher treated me. Physics is really hard and especially math and they're not my strongest subjects. If I did the IB certificate I'd drop physics and math but it also feels like I'm letting myself down. Someone please help 😂

Hii!! If you want to do law, there is no reason for you to do Physics. If you do the full diploma, you'd have to have 6 IB subjects (do another IB language and IB math)...and additionally, you'd have to write the Extended Essay (which can be very time demanding), do CAS and TOK. What uni are you planning to apply to? Look at their requirements and think about your subject choices afterwards. If you'd like to challenge yourself and maybe get extra credit in your uni, go for it! If you wanna do well in the IB, then you need to spend a lot of time on it, which might be stressful if you have a job. Check if the uni would accept the IB certificate instead of the diploma. Is it maybe possible to do the full diploma at first and maybe drop it to a certificate afterward? :)

I don't think it's limited.. just reference every quotation or even an idea that you got from someone else.. I basically reference everything apart from my analyses, explanations and evaluations of ideas.. I had 60 references from 38 different sources.
