Adelaide’s Tramway Time Machine

Thanks to volunteers from the Tramway Museum St Kilda it is now easier than ever to revisit Adelaide’s once great Tramway Network. The volunteers themselves spent a year collecting over 1300 photos to use on the map!
All historic photos used are from the St Kilda Tram Museum.

For your interest, the tracks are still at the bottom of the Goodwood underpass. There were road works there a while ago, in which they were uncovered. The bitumen has just been laid back on top.

Thanks for posting Kane, Brings back memories of my schooldays when I caught two trams. I caught a tram from Payneham to Victoria Square then one out Fullarton Rd to Urrbrae Agricultural High school. I did that for a year but found I could get to school quicker by riding my bike. That gives my age away. Cheers Ken

Cool video! I wish there were more tram lines in Adelaide (Also hello! We went to highschool together) Have you ever been to a shop called Refreshing Memories? They sell STEM toys and stim toys, and the guy who runs the place is super into trains and runs a website with historical railway plans called Inprotrans.

@Kane's Trains Islington works. You will find historical content that you seek. There is so much to be told abthe location and history. Did you know they made tank arrmor parts at Islington works? It was transformed during war times.. the houses the engineers lived in are still in use today. I has the pleasure of excavating the location.. amazing stories to be told. Keep up the great work on your channel

@Kane's Trains google this "old aerial pics of Islington works south Australia" you will find a ver early picture that will provide you with the information to start. The houses in the pic you see.. I lived in. Amd mate.. they still ha e the original coat hooks in the halfway. The yard are full of buried artefacts from.the time. Coins, silver, pottery and all sorts. The houses alone thell half the history not to mention the whole location. Goodluck. Ps. I got his by a freight train as a kid. I was tumbling under the train and spat out the other side. I walked home with minor injuries.
