I watched the show and everyone said that the Fijians were the best on the night. Better than all the international bands represented. My own British military band was nowhere close.

I grew up in Suva and every year I couldn't wait to see these Bands perform every Hibiscus. Oilei, those were the most memorable and treasured days of my youth. You had to see to believe that those were the great days. Also when the big Cruise ships used to dock at the wharf, either the Police Band or the RMF Band used to entertain the embarking tourists then when it was time for the ships to leave, to play to farewell the visitors. The famous ISA LEI, OUR farewell song was always sung. I used to beg my Dad to take me to the wharf to see these grand farewells. We lived close to the wharf so it wasn't far to walk. It was the novelty of the Band performing, people waving and streamers being thrown from the ship down to the onlookers which were the highlights for me. I miss those memorable events, the famous RMF Band. I wish Fiji never changed. But she will always be my homeland.

I am proud to be a ROYAL FIJI MILITARY FORCES T.O.D. KID [Tour On Duty] to Lebanon on Fiji's 2nd Lift 1978 for Dad was their Dentist to Lebanon for he was one of the youngest Government Pensioner at 45 years old and started his private practice. It was also the last time for the RFMF TODs stint of 6 months only, for after this 1st & 2nd Lifts [1st & 2nd Lift TOD for 6 months stint only] as the 3rd Lift till today are a 1 year Stint. So am always proud of all Fiji's RFMF PEACEKEEPERS for their sacrifice for Family, Country & The World's Peace and Decent Existence in the world. Dad on his last TOD to Lebanon in 1987 was airlifted from Lebanon on a special Charter to await his untimely death at 53 years old 3 months before the end of his TOD but passed just after arriving in Fiji in a month. So we RFMF TOD's kids know what it is to sacrifice for Country and the World's Peace and Security and Right to Decent Existence and Survival. So proud to be a TOD son in my early teen in 1978. Prior to these my Uncle dad's young brother joined the RFMF Brass Brand in late 1960s, so I grew up only used to RFMF Band and Music. He later became the Drum Major and was replaced by Warrant Officer Class 1 Neumi Leweni who in this clip is the Drum Major and from our Tribe in Tokalau Kabara who were sent to settle in Komo Island, so He is blood relation. My Uncle was promoted to RFMF Force Sergeant Major or FSM the most hated in the camp at QEB for he was sort of the Keeper of Respect of the Camp, replacing RFMF long serving Force Sergeant Major Naqelevuki. Neumi Leweni later became the successor of my uncle as the FSM before becoming a Commissioned Officer from maybe Captain or Major then Lt. Colonel. My uncle 3 only sons are in the RFMF as Non Commissioned Officers from teenage till today. I had another Cousin who was part of the Prime Minister's Private Investigation Team, Alias QOLS was the student of Major Koroi who started the first Intelligence Unit in Fiji in 1987. I have other cousins who are British Army non commissioned officers. So Military Life and Sacrifice runs in the family. My younger brother joined the RFMF Brass Band in 1987 as well. I attended NOSBY & ROSBY test for Cadet Officers and passed and selected both to the Navy and RFMF Cadet Officer in 1983 & 1984 for Mom's Cousin was the newly Navy Commander Sekope Cama and Dad's best friend Major Rt. Kadavulevu recruited me but I decided to drop both for mom and dad fought over which to take so I became a full time Commercial Farmer. Oh during our NOSBY the current Hon PM now was then our Liaison Officer i guess the rank of Lieutenant equivalent to the Army Rank. And Bill Seruvakula an OB from QVS was already a Commissioned Officer, I suppose. My best friends & OBs are in the RFMF till today from QVS, LBSS and NSS as well but 2 of them were the Hon. Prime Minister's Private Investigation Team, Dels & Vons and a civilian Joe Ului & Leds and others, while my cousin was with the PM's PIT as well, that is Qols. That is the reason I will always be a Hon. :PM Bainimarama Voter, Supporter and Die Hard Fan. That is the reason I will always be a Military Council Supporter, and Die Hard Fan forever as well. God Bless Our RFMF Peacemakers! God Bless Fiji and our HON. PM & His Cabinet members.
